Hardly suprising really, more and more people are realising the benefits of 64 bit, and 7 is much much better than Vista and, in my opinion, better than XP.

It is worth noting however that it is only just beating XP 32 bit; just 0.15%.

Even so, +3.41% is quite a significant gain from June

GTX 460 = upgrade cycle for 3.2% of people then.

EDIT: I'm wrong! People bought ATI cards!! http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/directx/?sort=chg Very strange - prices must have dropped, or ATI launched promotions across online stores in response to the GTX 460??

My biggest surprise is that 17% of people STILL use single core CPUs! WTF

It's not accurate though IMO - 91% of people use SLI? I find that difficult to believe it's that swayed.

Well, it makes sense to me. Think about it: people who buy ATI are usually aiming for the best bang for buck - hence they'll stick to single cards; Nvidia cards on the other hand scale much better in multi GPU configurations (YES, they do, get over it Red fanboys!) and tend to be dearer - so a person buying an Nvidia card probably isn't afraid of splashing out more money for a second GPU.

I'm surprised that ATI are leading in DX10 though - however the venerable 8800 series is still holding strong.

Hey, I just moved to Windows 7 64-bit this past month! :D

So, clearly, the majority follows my lead. The statistics correlate this fact. I am the person you need to watch to spot market trends. Bow unto me, peasants. :D

I think its the 4890. Just before the GTX460 came out, everyone on here seemed to be recommending the 4890 as it was almost just as good as a 5850 (apparently).

The 48xx series will last a bit longer than the 8800 I reckon. My 8800GT is starting to struggle with certain things, although I can still play everything, just not at Max.

Good call, the 4890 was/is a good value card. And yeah, it'll last longer as technically it's about two generations ahead!
Now whatever gave you that idea :D

Maybe that SLi number is people with cards capable of SLi, rather than actual number with SLi?

Nah. if you extend it, it divide the numbers down into 2 way SLI, 2 way Crossfire, 3 way SLI and 4 way SLI. :D

I thought way more people would have a GTX260. It seemed like everyone had one last year

The 91% SLI statistic is that 91% of those using a Multi-GPU have 2-way SLI, 5.1% with Crossfire, and the rest with 3-way and 4-way SLI.

It's been heading toward 7 steadily since it came out, there was a huuuuuge XP install base to overtake don't forget.

    Also damn right it's the 4890 :D
