Just about to order a 5870 1gb and I spotted a 2GB 5870 EYEFINITY 6 for the same price! Are there any negatives to having this over the 1GB standard 5870? BTW I'm only using 1 monitor at the moment
I can't think of any (except maybe extra heat/noise from cooling the other gig of memory). If they're the same price you might as well go for it.
The connections on the back are all Displayport, does it come with an adapter? It might help if you read this review, very useful information: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3621/amds-radeon-hd-5870-eyefinity-6-edition-reviewed/1 Basically unless you are going to run 6 displays, there isn't much point. It seems odd that they are the same price, the E6 usually has a premium price on it.
There isn't much point except for a few FPS with increased AA; but for the same price you might as well. And it comes with either 3 or 4 adapters. 2xDVI, 1xHDMI and something else if I remember correctly. But you can only use 2 adapters at once (the other 4 ports have to be Displayport).
Are the clock speeds the same? In most games, the extra gig of ram will make very little difference unless you game at enormous resolutions.
True - it will be pretty much the same for now, aside from the connections. If it is the same price and you're happy with display port then I'd go for it simply for longevity.
for the same price: buy it! more memory, included adaptors (if buying retail) for normal monitors, what could go wrong?
