This reminds me of self-service check-outs. I hate those things.

If I'm going to do the work and suffer the inconvenience of packing my own GD shopping up on that tiny, awkward shelf/scale THEN GIVE ME A BLOODY DISCOUNT

You can't call some one a troll for not sharing your opinion on something.

That wasn't an opinion. "I don't like it" is not the same thing as "it's ****, period". Not even the same ballpark.

I don't like WoW but you don't see me going around calling it ****, because i know other people like it and therefore

1)the fact that other people enjoy it means it's not **** and
2)i don't want to annoy(troll) the people who do enjoy it.

I don't like soccer either but if i'd go out on the street after a match and say that it's **** i'd probably get lynched.

The VOIP system in APB is amazing it has to be said. I mean personally, I turn it off because my crew is on Teamspeak or whatever, but as VOIP systems go it is brilliant. Basically how it works is that you can basically use VOIP to talk to anybody in earshot, which when you think about it is pretty good. Means that you actually have in game voice communications in a very dynamic way. For a lot of people it's going to be a really handy feature, specially in pick up groups, but for me playing it as a dedicated clan player it's not helping me any.

As for the payment model in general I think it's perfect for the game. There are so many subscription games I've played and cancelled subs for and been deterred from ever playing again due to the need to re-up a subscription fee. I don't want to have to pay eight quid just to look and see if a game improved. So because the game hours in APB are not on a clock if you don't like the game at first and you have hours left on it you can come back to it whenever. In my view that is much better value than a traditional MMO at launch. It does penalise people who get crazy embedded in the game for long spells when it comes out but even if those people burn through their fifty hours in record time, I mean they've still had fifty hours out of the game (just in the action zones) and that's not bad value on any new purchase (plus you can re-up to a traditional monthly payment). It's a pretty bold new system and people don't like change and complexity when it comes to paying for things, but I think it's about time the monthly payment model got a bit of a work over.

    :hehe:

Proximity VOIP has been used in games for years, I'm pretty sure even Halo 2 had it.

Considering its already sub based, I cant see why they need ads in too. Maybe they're expecting a low user base? Put me off it for sure.

It's a pity that, as soon as someone tries something new to raise money (they're a business, so why not?), they are immediately attacked as doomed to fail. let them try. Maybe the ads will be as funny as the GTA ads. We'll need to find out first.

There's nothing to say that the ads won't be humourous, knowing what Rockstar are like they'll (at least try to) convince the companies to do something that'll make the userbase laugh. I can't see the problem with the ads appearing in the game (hell, you get enough billboard ads in other games)

In honesty this doesn't look like my sort of fun anyway, but I can't see the ads putting me off.

Ok, a short ingame ad once every three hours, and clear payback in return (free voip system). That sounds good. Too bad they are ALSO charging the full monty for the box, AND have you pay either a monthly or an hourly fee.

It looks like they did a good job thinking of payment models for this game. Now if they would only have made some effort of making the game any fun to play, i could even give it a go. Oh well, more time to watch the netherlands play soccer matches i guess, :naughty:
