I agree with the idea it puts me off big companiese think they can push their customers (us) around and do whatever they want just to earn big bucks...

Desertcombat was a good game and so is Battlefield2 but the management and money greed turned it to a buggy game :( Oh well...

I also really doubt that this boycotting is going to work I mean look at an example of Manchester United, the new Malcom Glazer buying Manchester United. Fans tried to boycott even though it received quite alot of attention no one bothered ... and I think it will be the same in this case.

Good idea, I hope it works; BF2 is a great game, but far to buggy. Hopefully this will help make EA get there act together.

Well, its something EA cant ignore if the collective speaks and acts together. like it says, we do this, EA loses money, something they dont want.

hopefully this will really pick up steam. expect EA propaganda soon after the exp is released, about how well its doing. Dont trust the play and game top best sellers, it will be lies! to make you think the collective good will has failed. LIES!

Its not the fact that they dont. Its just that they should have the game fixed 100% before selling a half-ass expansion pack.

Apart from them working their staff to an early grave and producing some seriously buggy games, then yea, they own the lisence to everything so churn games out 10 a penny. It's not like you have a choice in the matter. EA or.. uhh.. hmm.

My cynicism tells me to inform you that an internet boycott wont do anything for the people/kids/uneducated public that go out and buy it anyway. Consumerism always wins, or, the financial marketing might of EA will.

In response to a question raised in the other thread the reason i no longer buy Ubisoft games is because of their lack to acknowledge the need for patching.

Specifically i play Tom Clancy's - Ravensheild (well did), and they released patch after patch that never dealt with major bugs and glitchs. I'm not even going to start on their lack of support for the anti-cheat guys.

Also they seem to pump out hundreds of games for all the consoles, then as soon as PC gamers start to wonder and ask when we are going to get it, then its cancelled. You know why? Its because they know when they bring out a PC title they ahve 3 years of patching/fixing of a game they rushed out in the first place. A console game once released requires no extra input or support and you can forget about it.

I seem to think therefore that the planned release of Ravensheild 4 (or lockdown as its called) although promised for many years, will never make it to the PC.

It's an interesting idea, but unless your protest numbers in the hundreds of thousands, I doubt EA will blink first.

I'll play. I'll just add it to the list of things I refuse to buy. Xbox ports, Ubisoft games, anything connected to steam.

Oh yeah, EA are unique in that regard aren't they? I have never heard of another game company making buggy games and exploiting their staff. Unheard of in this day and age.

At the end of the day BF2 runs far better than either BF1942 or BF:V ever did even after patches. It just irritates me that after all the games that have been released for the PC, people still think they have a god given right to a game that work flawlessly on the day of launch. I've read a million threads like this on several other forums and I laugh loudly at each one.

    What a load of BS...

People arn't perfect - so games can't be perfect. BF2 runs fine for me

and btw, theres a 1.02 patch released that fixes the bugs of patch 1.01 - kinda. you have to reinstall BF2 then just install the 1.02 patch its not an update to 1.01, its a replacement.

Nope, but EA virtually own the industry and have the rights to most sporting titles.

And the bugs n stuff may also be due to crappy drivers by nvidia or ati? Or people who cant set their PCs up for ********. I can just imagine half the tech support calls now: "I cant run it, i have teh min specs" "when did you last update your drivers" "do my what now?", or "i cant run it! it's too slow and i have an uber pc" "it's cause it's full of spyware you moron and you have to turn off your porn downloads to get a decent ping".

Anyhow, im not buying BF2 cause i wasnt gonna play it anyway :p

Ive got no problem with Ubi apart from their ingame adverts, but FarCry and SCCT work fine for me.

i know i do for sure. if i went out and spunked 30 quid on a game, id expect it run fine on my computer no doubt. sure, if theres an update or something can be made slightly better then yeah get an update out for it. but dont off load shoddy software until its decent. this isnt a rant about bf2 as it kinda works ok with me. but i think it is everyones right to expect a game of high quality especially from the likes of EA.

How do they virtually own the industry? That's just a groundless generalisation.

EA are a massive company that do what all massive companies do in the entertainment business: they churn out lots of product. Some of the products are exceptional, many are merely average, and a few are poor or flawed. And remember, in many, many cases, EA are merely the publishers and so blaming them for rubbish games or bug fests is like blaming Sony Music for the quality of an album they release. Do you expect Dreamworks to create a masterpiece for each cinema release?

As for the sports games, well aside from the football (soccer) games, EA produce some pretty fantastic titles that ARE the best sports titles available. I'm thing of the Tiger Woods golf games, the seminal NHL series, the NFL games, SSX snowboarding games, and they're the only people making Rugby and Cricket games worth bothering with, and the great NBA games I remember playing on the SNES etc. Sure the FIFA games are a bit ropey by the standards of the Pro Evo series, but remember when they first came out on the Megadrive? I don't remember many people complaining back then.

How about all the other great games they've produced/published? The Burnouts, the Battlefield games, (love em or loathe em) The Sims, the first couple of MOH titles, Need For Speed Underground (not my cup of tea but well done all the same), LOTR: Battle For Middle Earth (PC), Oddworld: Stranges Wrath (Xbox), Time Splitters for instance?

I just can't find the bile or venom to attack EA about the games they produce. They're certainly no more buggy or rubbish than any one else out there right now.
