News Call of Duty 5 to have co-op zombie Nazi mode

Treyarch announced this weekend that the new Call of Duty game, World at War, would include a controversial new co-op mode.

 

Left 4 Dead anyone Should still be fun though im hoping they do it right.

 

It really does sound like a half-ass copy of Left4Dead, other than that, no matter how much you dislike them, they're mocking someone's descendants and a part of world history.

 

At first I looked at the date and didn't see any April 1st.
I wonder what went through their heads when they thought up this. They must be eager to play L4D.

 

I'm cautiously optimistic about this madness.

 

It sounds like a fun mode, if I were interested in this game I would be happy, but there are so many titles I'm playing this Christmas I don't have time to bother with a non infinity ward CoD. The 4 player co op thing reeks of copying Left4Dead, but in actuality it's almost a blend between that and the survival mode announced in Gears 2. I don't get why they limited it to 4 players though, wouldn't 8 players in this mode be just as good? (Assuming there were larger maps for it)

 

indeed. If properly executed a big fortess should be fun to defend with up to 16 people. That would make epic LAN party gaming

I can imagine the meeting where they decided this;

Marketing: Right guys, feedback isn't good from the general public, we need a way to increase peoples interest in the game due to COD3. Any ideas?
Developer #1: We could put more footage of the flamethrower out?
Marketing: Done that to death.
Dev #2: *wakes up from nightmare* ZOMBIESSSSSSSSSS!
Marketing: Hmmm, kind of left 4 dead style?
Dev #2: Erm, yes...

 

Don't forget the discussion after extensive calling out on the intarbutz!

"Dev1: ****, someone noticed we're riding on L4D's coat tails!
Marketing: Hm. Why not say we had the idea from the start, and L4D copied us?
Dev2: But our engine is way too new for them to have copied us. People will know we didn't start until recently.
Marketing: We'll reclass it as a main campaign mode, dumb the engine down a lot, and make the Nazis more evil. Like, have one shooting a little kids rabbit in the opening scene.
Dev1: Done."

 

No one here ever played the zombie mod for cod2 and cod4. Was lots of fun and very popular. I think this will be a pleasant surprise! Don't knock it till you tried it!

but it isnt modern WF
and it now has zombies [which was a boring mod]

If IW was making this game, most people would be happy about it.
I feel sorry for Treyarch, imo, the game on every level looks like a mass WII expansion for COD4. Oh, and I don't see why people are knocking WII based games either really.
Graphically, this is on another level to past games anyway.

 

We need world war 3 to happen so we can get companies to stop whoring more WWII games.

I think it is a good idea. For everyone else that DON'T like the zombie idea, just play the regular mode for chrissake!

I really doubt that there will be much more than a skin revamp in the regular nazi chars thou...

i literally had to read this three times, are you serious??!! we've been running around shooting nazi's in the face since the days of wolfenstein (biomech hitler boss anyone), they've been consistently mocked in film and on stage (the producers anyone) since WWII and quite rightly so. you think that putting zombie textures on the character models really makes this game THAT much more disrespectful?
