Is it possible to hook up an Xbox 360 to my current PC monitor and speakers without having to constantly swap cables?

I don't own the Xbox yet, so haven't had the chance to look at the set-up.

I'm guessing the monitor (Dell) is easy enough, but I'm not sure if some sort of simple switch unit is available for the speakers.

What do you think is the best option?

    Thanks.

Does your Dell monitor have multiple inputs? eg, HDMI, DVI and VGA?

If not, you'll have to deploy some sort of video switch box or KVM.

Hi guys, yes, the monitor has the required inputs.

I assume if the PC is off, the monitor will take the next available data - ie from the Xbox 360.

What about the speakers though? (Logitech Z906 if that makes a difference).

You can get 3.5mm jack splitters and they work, but I'm not sure how they affect sound quality.

No no no just use the toslink/optical input for the XBOX (if you have a newer XBOX) or hack the original audio out put to remove the little tab or buy the audio out cable (same as original with out the tab)

your speakers have enough input to not need a splitter cable.

    XBOX support page
    with pics :D

Newer XBOXes have a optical output which would be best for your speakers check for the toslink cable output at the back of your xbox.

Toslink all the way if your speakers have such an input. :)
