Hello bit-tech Like so many other im looking to get in on the Sandy Bridge craze, i do however have a question about compatibility. This is the hardware ill be using: Silverstonetek Fortress FT02 1.4 Intel i5 2500k ASUS P8P67 PRO P67 S-1155 CORSAIR 8GB DDR3 XMS3 VENGEANCE PC3-12800 1600MHZ CL9 Asus Xonar STX Samsung F3 Asus GTX 570 The cooler ive been thinking of is the Thermalright Silver Arrow. Its a fairly large cooler and i am worried that it will collide with the heatsinks on the memory. Does anybody know if this is the case? If so, what other lownoise cooler can you recommend? Thanks in advance.
I'm pretty sure you can move the fans up and down to clear tall ram, but I'm not completely sure, also if your spending that much on a cooler and are looking for one with low noise I HAVE to recommend the Noctua NH-D14, I know on this you can move fans up and down on this (as I have dominator ram, I have to do this) and its dead easy, also the mounting is fantastic and the fans even on full speed are pretty much silent :]
I'm sorry what? They are, I have one and its great. :] But yes thermaltake frio is also good and pretty quiet
If you want to run the with the stock cooler whilst you make up your mind, it is actually not too bad (mine idles about 41C with the stock one).
The Noctua NH-D14 is amazing, and easily one of the better coolers out there. If you do as I do and replace the fans with a pair of SGT 1850's, it absolutely blows the competition out of the water.
I think i might end up doing this for a while, didnt even think of it From what i have read the Frio will interfere with tall memory heatsinks, and im a bit worried that it will be too noisy.
