I think you would have been bang on with 6, judging from what was written to be honest.

I'm just amazed you read the entire article within 1 minute of the article being published.

I am a fast reader. I go through a novel in about 2 days just from reading at lunches and the odd hour in the evening.

That, and most of the space was filled with images ;) It's not that much text.

reading the review. it feels like Crysis 1/2 (half) rather than Crysis 2.

it's a step backwards from original Crysis, a step backwards towards the innovation-less generic shooter known now as CoD series.

ninja edit: wow that was a few fast posting.

At some point, surely, there will be a framework developed for human combatant AI, just as there are physics engines etc. The AI is what makes release dates slip, is hardest to write and bugcheck and is still consistently wrong. The Goldeneye effect, having completely unrealistic AI humans who somehow still provide a fun enemy (also seen to great effect in Rainbow 6 Vegas 2) is currently an FPS's best chance of avoiding being infuriating to play. Every time a dev tries to make realistic human soldiers they get it badly wrong and spend a lot of time and money doing it.

The review is 1795 words long. If you read it in 1 minute then you read at a rate of 30 words per second. That means you should be able to read the King James Version of the Bible (774,746 words) in 430 minutes - or just over 7 hours.

    Race you.

" Every time a dev tries to make realistic human soldiers they get it badly wrong and spend a lot of time and money doing it. "

Crysis 1 has some "functional AI" and from the review it looks as if this was a step back with Crysis 2.

Shortly - hopefully ahead of release. Basically, the PC version DRM didn't unlock until right about now. We're going to do a condensed PC review (without repeating story faults given here, mainly focussing on differences such as handling on the PC version) and graphics comparison within the next few days.

I've emboldened this because I don't want to have to repeat it over and over.

Seems like theres so many shooters around nowadays you need a few stand out features, Crysis had that with it being PC exclusive, graphic monster and island setting etc etc. They have basically removed what was original and gave them a leg up over competitors, other original features such as the nano suit have been watered down and made controller friendly (whatever they may say about people not using it the way they intended). I can see that some people may enjoy this and it has its merits but I'd rather save my £40 and play warhead again, which imo is probably the best constructed Crysis installment.

So it's basically trying to be Crysis of Duty?

I had no intention of getting this since I like to avoid anything that comes out with the 360 as the lead platform unless it can prove it isn't crap. Still will be interesting from an engine standpoint to see the PC review. I expect lots of sneering at the graphics options menu.
