The two parter was great - I was half expecting the boy that nabbed the pocket watch to be a young Capt. Jack or something.

And how creepy / excellent was 'Son of Mine'? Hard to believe that's the same guy who played Will Scarlett in Robin Hood last year.

 

Tim, the boy with the pocketwatch, intrigued me as well.

didn't I hear a quiet "you are not alone" spoken to him the first time he picked up the watch? Kind of made me think he was a missing Time Lord or something.

I can only hope that future episodes live up to this one in terms of acting over cheesy FX.

the watch whispered lots of different quotes from the series to him, I don't think it was anything other than that

Timothy's description of the Doctor was quite simply fantastic: "I've seen him. He's like fire, and ice, and rage. He's like the night, and the storm and the heart of the sun. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe. And... he's wonderful. " How can you sum up a man like the Doctor? That's a pretty good try...

[edit] Just looked up the actor on IMDB and I knew I recognised him from somewhere - he played the kid in Love Actually . Damned good at his part

Agreed, Davies is a pretty **** Doctor Who writer.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Original concepts, original aliens, the doctor's personal chronology pirouetting and zig-zagging across the episode and good acting/directing all round. Bravo!

 

Yesterday's episode was really good, I wasn't that impressed with the previous double-parter.

 

what?! really!? dude, the 2-parter was genius! best acting in doctor who s3 so far!

 

Occasionally it shines. Occasionally. This two-parter was one example. The first two-parter of season one was another.

"Are you my mummy?"

 

Even my housemates that don't normally like Dr Who thought saturdays episode was great. Made us all jump in a few places!

Indeed. That one freaked me out!

 

I liked the last episode a lot, but I have some reservations.

If the angels are so quick then why did it take them forever to kill Sally and the guy once they had looked away?
There were a couple of times towards the end that the angels must have seen each other, and thus become frozen.

Bah, I should just enjoy it. It's just a TV show after all.

I did really like the Doctor's personal chronology making an appearance. Always good to see, and good writing too.
Now I want to see how the Doctor got caught with his pants down.

 

Ghost of Mars.

Someone has been watching it me thinks, after seeing the first 10mins of todays episode.

 

No F'ing way The Master? wow talk about screwing with your mind this is set before the Dr killed the master (see the 2000 film).
WOW what an episode, i wonder what the masters T-A-R-D-I-S will look like.

 

Loved having The Master back, but they should have stuck with Derek Jacobi instead of John Simm.

 

From what we've seen in previous episodes this season, I rather think it might look like this:-
