News EA acquires Respawn Entertainment in £350m deal

Might as well write up the article where EA kills them off and archive it and end it with "This was written Friday 10th November 2017."

Titanfall 3 incoming with season pass, RNG loot boxes, microtransactions with limited uses to screw you and subscription because "Games as a Service".

 

I guess this means Titanfall 3 will sell tokens to decrease the time between calling down a titan and other silly monetization of the player base until they get bored and EA shuts them down.

 

Thoughts,

1) It's taken them fifteen years, but West, Zampella and chums have finally gotten their Medal of Honor money out of EA. After what happened with Activision I really can't fault them for taking such a massive pay day, time to go and buy a small tropical island.

2) So much for Titanfall 3, after 2 being msotly brilliant and having a very fair in game store EA can only take the franchise backwards.

3) Everyone who doesn't own a stake in the company had better start filling out CVs.

 

Honest question: who's the worst when it comes to in-game purchases? EA, Ubi, Bethesda?

 

Mobile games and MMOs make all of them combined look like amateurs when it comes to that.

That said, among the big game publishers:

The how the f*** do these clowns even dare to call themselves a game publisher / over the top comically bad guys are Konami.

The regular bad guys:
Worst microtransactions + DLC + Season Pass award: EA
Lack of innovation award: Activision
Telling lies / overpromising award: Ubisoft
Shittiest PC Ports award: Koei Tecmo

The mediocre:
Bethesda, 2K, Square Enix, WB, Bandai Namco and Sega.

The good ones:
CDProjekt, Devolver Digital, Deep Silver, THQ, Paradox Interactive, Codemasters.

 

Saint's Row and Metro series seem to both work fine for the absolute majority of people.
The only really big screw they've had in the last couple years was Homefront Revolution.
