Yup, stick any media files you want on a cheap 32GB microSD and use the other 20GB for apps ;)

It states the product release date has changed not that it's sold out major difference there.

However, Canada is facing similar delays so it may just be that Microsoft is prioritising US orders (as Apple is wont to do also). Engadget also suggests that Microsoft is shipping about 5 million units. If they have already sold out then we can talk about a decent success here. Microsoft's next challenge will be to keep production up with demand --something Apple has down to a fine art.

    Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxx,

Thanks for recent order from Microsoft (Order# xxxxxxxxxx).

Due to an internal processing issue, we mistakenly sent you an email indicating the shipment date for your order had changed. That email was incorrect. Your expected shipping date has not changed.

We're sorry for the confusion our error may have caused. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 0800 026 0329 and reference Order# xxxxxxxxx and one of our agents will be happy to assist you.

    Thanks for shopping at Microsoft

Seems a lot if fuss being made over what would have been only a 6-day delay anyway. First World problems. :p

I'm heading over to Washington on the 2nd Nov, then NYC on the 4th for 5 days. I like the idea of $499 - works out at about £315... :)

Do you guys think they will be available in the shops then?

Microsoft initially said that the Surface will only be available online at the Microsoft Online Store.
However, the Microsoft Store (the physical location), is a replica of the online store. And they do allow you to pre-order the Surface (delivered to you). I have no idea if it will be on store shelf over there. Microsoft didn't say.

I reckon that'd be the max I'd spend on something I want, but possibly don't really need, especially as my main PC needs replacing. Sadly it needs replacing with something that can game otherwise I might have been able to just get by with the Surface (docked in of course).

£1100 - £1249 ish same cost as a new top end mac book air basically. Anymore and id buy the macbook still. Not intrested in surface RT my current tablet collects dust not sure this one would make any difference accept to add more dust.

Problem for most with these tablets is what do you actually use them for on a day to day basis to merit the purchase, At first i did use it to view web pages then i relised my pc is already on so why am i bothering. Even from a media consumption device perspective 50inch tv with direct link to pc or a 9inch screen no contest.

Its currently used as my sisters facebook website viewer pc i rarely bother to aquire it off her anymore.

I must disagree on that one.

The main reason I bought the Nexus 7 to replace my iPad 2 (besides the purging of any and all lingering Apple products from my household) was the screen resolution. 132 PPI just wasn't cutting the mustard anymore, especially when the device was mainly used as an e-reader. 148 PPI isn't much of a selling point at that price when people have become accustomed to much higher quality panels from other manufacturers.

Original post was great read, though.

I want the pro but I can't really afford it right now. Guess I'll just save up. It'll be amazing for my field of work.
