I'm not sure. I seem to recall this batch I'm on not being that terrible at 5GHz... it was cooling that was my problem, not volts. However... the more I think about it, the more I just may wait for IB-E and spend cash on Kepler when it lands. Can't decide yet... then you've got the C2 stepping version released soon (if not already), so it may be worth seeing what feedback there is on those before I decide. You'll have to talk me through that one day, as I never got my head around using offset. Instead I use a static setting, and use LLC to ramp up and down. I'd love to be able to idle at such a low, cool voltage though. Fancy posting a BIOS screenie? Yeah, that stuff needs to cure a little... same here. I'm using AS5 and it dropped quite a bit after I'd "run it in". BTW... just updated the boards for you Simon, so feel free to basque in your own smugness... ya' ****!
Yeah, I would, as this will leave me on the top spot for a while. hehe. Yeah, I will do that for you. Usually takes a couple of days to cure, as you say. LMAO, Oh I will. I'm sure you will have a come back!
I can take that back whenever I chose I'll leave it a few days... let you have enough time to enjoy it... before I snatch victory from your grasp and leave you with the bitter, smoldering feelings of defeat and disappointment. Thank you kindly ya' ****... I mean.. mate I think mine was 48 hours and then it bottomed out. Weird stuff AS5. I used to use Ceramique.. whilst not being as good, you could slap it on and know where you were with it, but 48 won't kill us I suppose. [EDIT] Boards fixed.
OK OK you win....not LOL. Still, I would rather get some 24ct Diamond TIM on this...Knocks the Temps about 3C lower than AS5. Thank you. Here you go. Now, I played around with this for a while. I booted into windows at 5Ghz with 1.4V vcore. Then Restarted. Popped into the Bios and changed Manual Vcore to Offset mode. Then + and then 0.040. Saved & Exit. Then Loaded into windows. (Make sure you haven't got your powerplan in Control panel set to High Performance - set it to Balance. Also set your EPU in AI Suite to Auto). Give it about 30 seconds on the desktop, and then she should drop to idle. (Efficiency score in 64Bit, I need bumping up into 2ND).
Wow I feel left out of this D**k swinging contest, although I'm not sure that's the right phrase to use, anyway I shall have to get my 3960X installed when I finally finish my 7 day week on wednesday
Look forward to the competition. Still shows me in 5th place on the 64bit Efficiency board...Cache cleared etc.
Yep, that fixed it. Have you tried using the offset mode yet? I found when using 4.7Ghz I only needed to apply 0.005v to the offset. That booted me into windows fully stable at 1.3v with Medium LLC.
Not yet no. Had too much other stuff to do tonight. I'll give you some feedback as soon as I've had the time to do it.
Im back with new scores. It realy was annoying having those phenoms above My intel So I stuck a 2500K in it so i can actualy overclock 32 Bit i5 2500K @ 5GHz http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/558609 64 Bit i5 2500K @ 5GHz http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/558611
I'll still bitch about the crappy memory controller. I can't hit my target of 13K because of that damn thing.
