I am working on the front at the mo, plexi with macro-style tint, and a nice clear akasa 80mm fan. Apart from that, I need to finnish the fanbus (four knobs below lcd) and get some stickers for the buttons on the lid (power, reset and cd-open/close). Red leds on right are fan speed indicators.

    Nice one.

Did you build it from sheet metal or did you find the base stucture and modded it into something better?

Believe it or not, the main body was an old toolbox my dad gave me! He said he got it from the dump about ten years ago.
Before I got it, I tried to bend some ali into those smooth curves, but it was just too difficult without professional equipment.

Quite sinister potentially. maybe you need some rotating parts in there or at least some slowly pulsing lighting.

    WOW, thanks for the support!
Heres the annotated view, in case you were wondering...

Should be able to get some piccies of the front in the next couple of days, but it's not finnished yet. It is just the right size (tinted plexi) to cover those nasty rivets!
The hard drive was discussed over here if you want a couple of closer piccies.
Aluminum routing was threaded here but no piccies (sorry)

hmm tough questions. Ok, the main body of the case was actually a tool box already formed into a U shape, so I just cut out the big rectangle i n the front, and used a piece of flat ali for the rear. The lid and base are seperate from this, and are actually bolted together with some threaded rod. Before I got the toolbox I did try to bend some ali, but I think I bought too hard an alloy as I bent around a wooden form (was actually a wooden table in a U shape I got from the dump) using a LOT of cramps to hold it all the way around. The problem was when I took the cramps off, it sprung back to almost flat! If you want to try to bend it yourself, get some softish ali (ask your retailer) which will hold a curve easy. If you want a 90 degree bend, it should be easy with two pieces of wood and some cramps.
But it is well worth all the effort as you end up with a unique case you can build to any size you want.
Another tip is to get a "donor case" that you can rip the mobo tray, cd caddy, etc out of.
Oh yeah, rivets and a rivet gun will be needed to join it all together.

Nice ****ing case. How hard was it to build?

Im in the process of Building my own case out some Aluminum Extrusions from 80/20. Im also making all the sides clear with some 1/4" plexi.

ok people, I was a bit worried about overloading the thread with piccies, but if you want more detail, let me know exactly what, and I'll get them.
