    Still running my 3.0ghz P4. Currently at 3.4ghz and watercooled. It does the job. Eventually.

    A whole $15 hardly seems worth it.

    FYI the official website states any P4 bought up to June 30, 2002.

    Could have actually claimed this for a PC equipped with a 1.4A purchased for uni, except I resided in Illinois at the time, which is excluded for some reason. Odd.

    I might go after Intel head on for my $15

    So if I was to have a small pile of P4 chips... Hell, I have a 3.29 ghz chip sitting on my desk here, that could add up.

    Willamette CPUs only, I suspect it's $15 per customer, not per CPU, and it also seems to suggest that it's for indivuduals that purchased a PC with a P4 inside, but not a bare CPU

    At that time , I had already upgraded to an AMD rig, so I decided to see how far my P4 would go. I managed 4.0Ghz for about 5 mins before it gave up. It actually melted the pins it was so hot. Killed the mobo as well..:D

    It really bothers me intel managed to get away with this for so long. And yet they took FOREVER to stop producing the P4. 8 years is ridiculous, though to be fair, the 2008 releases are very different from the 2000 releases. Different to the point where you'd ask "why did they even bother?"

    $15 with such a limited restriction is hardly a punishment to Intel. It'll be even less, when you consider the majority of the people are eligible won't even know about this. The total payouts they have to make will probably cost less than a janitor's yearly pay.

    So...every American (except for those Illinoians) gets 15$ for free from Intel by simply implying that they bought a PC over a decade ago without having to prove they actually have?
