I think we've probably skipped a generation - the last ones I've spent any time with are my X-31 and T-43p, both feel like they've been hewn from solid rock. Dunno about the middle ground.

Build quality is still excellent compared those of old (I am an IBMer, and have been on both IBM & Lenovo ThinkPads).

I just need a bloody tech refresh, as I'm still on the T400...

A big box of Omron microswitches:

For peripheral repairs! First on the hit list? Three Logitech G-series mice. Two G5's and a G7.

Also, a whole mess of these little buggers:

6x6mm body, 5mm deep tactile switches with a 1mm button, 0.5mm of travel and 0.98N operating force. These little guys are for Xbox 360 controller repairs :thumb:

100 of each. That should keep me going for another little while :)

Twelve Bitspower 7/8" ID silver compression fittings from the marketplace - my S775 server is getting the Danger Den hi-flow barbs and hose clips replaced, and the coolant changed from 2 year old Feser UV blue (the opaque "won't let the light of the sun through, even if it's actually ON the surface of the sun" stuff) coolant to the newer translucent Feser light blue stuff.

In black, 4GB version ( uses a MicroSD card )- just need to pick up some nice Sound Magic PL30 ear bud head phones as the included ones are naturally terrible.

    Reason for purchase: Tinnitus...

    For you, "A fridge". ;)

(Huge fridge, usually vertically divided fridge or fridge/freezer)

    Something like these.

In the UK and Europe, fridges are usually pretty weedy cold boxes like these. Hence the term "American style fridge" being coined to describe the bigger ones that are divided vertically into fridge/freezer.

We have an integrated vertical fridge/freezer in the kitchen that's 60/40 fridge/freezer, and a large chest freezer in the basement (in my workshop, actually!) for storing larger amounts of frozen food (and buckets of ice).

I believe this is the second time household appliance traditions around the world have come up on bit-tech :hehe: Still, it's interesting that the words "American fridge" which is a normal everyday phrase here sparked a question from an actual American :)

I can say that I've learned something today! Those "undercounter fridges" would almost be called "mini-fridges" here, it's hard to find them outside a dorm or hotel room.

Ahh cheers for the explanation Uni! But yeah, vertically divided, freezer on one side, fridge compartment on the other...
