Although the chair looks top heavy, it's surprisingly not. I was pretty cautious the first time I hopped on it though... Yeah, the NF-44 is a classic. I was really pushing EVGA to make a S775 SLI mATX board almost 2 years ago. I started a thread and a poll on their forums, and the response was overwhelmingly in favor. It's a little disappointing to see they haven't followed through with any platform. Asus hit the ball out of the park with theirs. Now that I've got parts arriving, I'm committed!

This weekend will be the new hardware's first real test. I'm heading to Netwar in Omaha for 26 hours of non-stop gaming. If there are any issues, they'll show up there. However, I'm pretty confident it will perform like it should. Game on!

Just a non-update update here... In between all of other miscellaneous projects (including current, but not log-updated Project: Hutch), I've been giving OSIDIAS's design a slight tweaking. One of the benefits of delaying the start of a project, is that it allows new and alternative ideas to come out. Ideas that may not have been possible if work was already underway. One of the things I realized, is that I may need to find away to attach all the ribs to the interior of the case. They will need to slide out with the motherboard tray. This will require them to be mounted to easily removable frames of their own. It's not really a big deal, but will require some interior redesign. I've also found the need to widen the case itself by a single centimeter. That change alone allowed for the following... The biggest idea came to me as a sat at my desk listening to the whine of the fan on the Via pico-itx board in the Rogue. I've got no way to quantify it, but it seems lightly louder than before. So, I've decided to 'Langer-ize" it. In Jesse's outstanding Prometheus log, I suggested the possible use of a Cooler Master Aquagate Viva for watercooling the pico. Well, I'm now taking my own advice. I've found room for a secondary watercooling loop... Utilizing the Viva's pump and radiator, as well as some very creative parts placement, will allow me to ramp the insanity up another notch. Stay tuned for updated sketches...
taking from the rouge and prometheus this has to be good. PICO water cooling just takes the cake especialy considering how much space you have to play with. can't wait to see this take shape
Thanks guys! I think I had some good ideas coming in to this project, but there were some ideas that I needed to develop more. Who says procrastination doesn't pay off? When I building the Rogue, there were two big questions I kept asking myself. Do I have room, and if I do, will it impact cooling or airflow? Simply putting something in an open area doesn't make for efficient design. It's got to be functional, and not negatively impact some other aspect of the case. OSIDIAS is roughly half the size of the Rogue, so the challenge is multiplied here. But hey, isn't that the fun part?
2 things... Can't you just add the pico to the main loop? You have to make a proper waterblock for it!
Technically I could add the pico to the main loop... However, the i7 with a single 240 rad is pushing it already. I don't think the pico or the i7 would benefit from it's addition. I am thinking about adding the mainboard's northbridge to the pico loop however. It certainly needs additional cooling, as it runs hot. Oh, and I almost forgot the most obvious reason I need two separate loops... The systems will run independently of each other. You know, I hadn't thought about going with a custom block. I might have to do that.

Thanks man. I've got to finish Hutch before I can start on this. I've got parts for that arriving this week, and should have it's log updated by this weekend. With any luck it will only be a few weeks before I start on OSIDIAS.
I've been pretty busy lately, but I thought I'd show you one of my interior revisions. I've changed the internal supports to something a little stronger, and changed the layout slightly. In addition, the case is now able to fit most any rad up to 56mm in depth. Also, I've made room for the second radiator (Aquagate) for cooling the Pico, a 3rd fan over the video cards, and finally room for my Wintsch Labs peltier block. I've got to draw the block in CAD yet, but it should fit. Once I get that done I can get the tube routing planned out. More to come!
