Walking home from a friends', saw the Nordica was working close to the town in the mist. Unfortunately, by the time I got the camera and set it up on the NT land beyond the tracks she started moving off.

She's currently laying cable in St.Ives Bay for the Wave Hub project.

Stonedsurd - I just got back from the Northern Ireland international airshow this weekend, and even though the weather was crappy I still really wish I had a new camera, because I could have sat all day on Saturday and Sunday taking photographs. I still enjoyed it, but seeing your shots of that show make me really wish I had a new camera right now :/

    [edit]

Nice Antonov AN-2. The pilot of the Lithuanian registered AN-2 which displayed at our show was fantastic. He flew it straight into the wind with the nose up a few times, almost stalling but keeping enough power on to make the plane *almost* hover motionless in the air. He did some awesome 110 degree wingovers as well.

Thank you :D A good camera + lens does help. The last time I was at an airshow I had cellphone camera :p And that was a shame, because they had the USN Blue Angles, a Harrier, F-22, a bunch of MH-53s - it was basically awesome. Incidentally, it happened to be at MCAS Miramar, which used to be the Navy's Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN).

I'm sure your show was more impressive, though. All we had in the air this time were a couple of piston/turboprop aircraft, a Sea Knight, a C-17 and a Super Hornet.

That's exactly what the An-2 pilot did at this air show. Pointed it towards the ocean (wind was blowing in from the coast) and just hung almost motionless in the air. Most impressive. And it's a deceptively huge craft too, isn't it?

Anyway, have some more (somewhat pedestrian) airshow pics while I sort the impressive ones for tomorrow.

    EDIT:

I wasn't able to get the F-18 flying shots (except one) done yesterday/today. Lots of work came up. I hope these will do.

Antonov An-2 (again). This one illustrates the size, because that's a de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk next to it:

    Great location.

I think your composition could be improved however; it's not level, and it would be worth trying out the rule of thirds. Personally I would have got as low as possible to the water.

I hope my thoughts are appreciated, please don't take them badly.
