16 Gb/s sounded impressive...some time ago. GDDR5X offers 11 Gb/s right now, while, according to specs documents, it has the potential for 16 Gb/s. I guess it all depends on when GDDR5X reaches its full potential and whether that's before or after GDDR6 release. Also, obviously, yields and price and all that.

Also, I'm very interested in what kind of potential GDDR6 will bring to the table. A solid 20 Gb/s should not be out of reach, judging by older generations. Guess we'll have to wait for the specs documents being made available publicly.

Isn't HBM the way forward though? Or is this the same thing?

GDDR will be cheaper, so that Nvidia can continue making nice cheap GPUs for lolz price.

HBM is irelivent outside of 4k would be there argument. Correctly one might add.

Be years before we see a low end card with it on, cost will prohibit that.

You could argue the same can be said of GDDR6 too. Given how 4K and QHD will continue to become more mainstream and integrated GPUs will also increase to cover the super low end, surely it must be a weird market future for a product like this? If HBM2 makes its way into all future high end releases, then it's relegated to the lower ends, but then why not just stick with GDDR5X for much longer since it will be a mature process?
