"Our intention is and has always been to remain independent"
    don't become a PLC then.
It is my intention to be a hero of the land, however I'm just a pleb like the other plebs.
Lofty intentions mean nothing without the means to see them through...

So I'm guessing he means screwing customers over with incomplete products, intrusive DRM, and pay-to-win games?

    "take risks"

LOL. Such as releasing unfinished software in the hope that your customer base will stay loyal to the end?

Isn't Vivendi the parent company of Activision-Blizzard?

Must be another ploy to say they own the largest publisher of video games in the world like when they forcibly merged Acti-Bliz. So soon it will be Acti-Bliz-Ubi and they'll be the largest publisher of video games again until EA shoggoths it's way over a few more independent studios.

Yves Guillemot is deluded, I really dislike him and Ubisoft as a whole so can share no sympathy for his position.

And if they ruin Anno 2205 I will never buy from them again...

    Ahem:
So, no: it's not the parent company of Activision-Blizzard any more.

Lol "allowed us to innovate, take risks"

9 Assassin's Creed games in 8 years with 4 of them being released in the last 2, and then all the AC spin off games on top of that. Does he mean that sort of innovative risk taking?
