News University of Wisconsin wins Apple patent battle

Great news ! a company with no morals having to give money to education. Or have my specs gone all rose tinted ?

 

Sadly US universities are more of a for profit business than anything else, it just so happens that their business is education.

 

Agreed - it's hardly a win here, but, I would much rather a university have all that money than Apple, especially a university that isn't very well-known. As long as that money goes toward the school itself and not whoever owns the school then this could be really beneficial.

I wonder how much of that money the people who came up with the idea get to see.

 

I know it was a typo, but I wouldn't put it past Apple to just buy the uni...

 

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd somewhere between 10-15% of absolutely bugger-all of it...

 

Wow, $900 million. That's almost enough to put one American through a full degree program.

 

It would've got them all the way through uni, but they stubbed their toe first week there and had to go to the ER...

 

Well now you're just being silly, when there's money to be made the advancement of the general population can damn well wait.

 

Apple will make that much money in about four or five days.
