I think it's fairly obvious - he doesn't want to pay.

If you're asking for torrent sites, you're on the wrong forums.

    ORLY?

    :read:

Lovefilm do an online rental that streams to pretty much everything, but no DVD versions.

EDIT: EZTakes do a download/burn service, but they're specialists in foreign/independant/comedy/cult/rare movies - linky

Could it be not wanting to use iTunes because of the software? :p

I don't see why people have a problem with itunes, it is a near perfect system.

I'm not a massive fan of iTunes the program (mainly for its constant forcing of Quicktime on us), but it does the job OK. However, the store...

Personally, I'd like a system where all my purchases were linked to my account, so catastrophic hardware failure didn't mean I lost everything.

    Sorry what?

iTunes on Windows is gay. If you have a Mac, fill your boots.

If I want to buy a single song I can, if I want to buy a full album I can, if I want to buy a movie I can, if I want to rent a movie I can, it syncs perfectly with my phone (iphone 4), perfectly with my mp3 players (touch and a classic) and when I finally get my apple tv it will easily stream all my movies to my tv. The only real downside I think is that if you have a hard drive failure and you dont have a backup you COULD be screwed (I say could as I do know people who have been allowed to re-download). If they done a steam style system of keeping all your purchases in check it would be IMO 100% perfect.

You say it is gay, but what cant it to that you would expect it to?

Sync reasonably with a few things that don't begin with "i", and run without Quicktime. :p

I use lovefilm quite alot 10 pounds a month you get unlimited dvds and unlimited use of the online streaming.

Admittedly they don't have a mass of new titles on there but they have just put up past harry potter film which isn't bad.

otherwise Itunes is probably your best option its responsibly priced also I would say.

TBH Will it was designed with ipods in mind and Quicktime isn't that bad at all.

I don't see why Apple can't just allow you to re-download all your stuff. Steam manage it, and games take up a lot more space than music.

I think people have missed the bigger picture. It might not actually be Apple, it's more than likely the record labels not allowing Apple the ability to allow users to re-download things which have already been paid for.

Not having a dig at anyone, or defending Apple, but pointing something out.

Apple have the facility to allow re-downloads, but choose not to:
