E: I don't want to keep this case myself and actually my kinds don't need new ones, because they have good enough computers allready. So this case is going for "charity", i will give it for some person who would deserve something special.
I live in finland, and i thought i would give this case for some young finnish student, one who would deserve something special, but can't produce it himself, because of handycap or something.

Quick tour for project so far:

I finally got a name for the project:Windrider

    Hi.

I have readed this forum, for some time, so i decided to post my project here too.

This is my second and a half scratch buil, and actually my second case mod too. I dumped this project earlier and smashed to the trashcan, i started a re-make some time ago. Mainly the frame is like earlier, but the theme isn't exactly same as it was in first time.

I like simple things, and i decided to do, my kind of simple and neat case. Dimensions are 400x370x200. 410mm x 370mm x 220mm

I don't like detailed plans, it's funnier just make. :)

Im goin to but connectors to the bottom, and use passive cooler with gfx, also cpu will be aircooled.

I use 1.5mm thick acid proof steel for the frame, and the reason is that it shine's when sanded and polished properly. ( I like shiny things) :D

    Part of the frame:

    Roof, with cutting for psu:

And holder for the psu itself, this part will also make case more stiffer.

    Update 5.4.2009:

I started to re-make this project some months ago. Desing for the frame is mostly same as earlier, but i made this one 20mm wider.
Starting was actually a joke, i was reading one finnish forum and noticed that there was two projects named " Case project using old xxxx..."
I was a little drunk and started a project called " Case using old steel plates".
I forgot the whole project, until people started to ask "Any progress?", so i had to make something.

First i wasn't very motivated and just made something, then a noticed that this case is going to look too stupid and even founded some motivation.

    Here is the situtation now:

A welded stainless steel frame? I like it already. It kinda has '''70s sci-fi" written all over it.

Thanks for the comments. Front frame is welded, other parts are riveted, because heat of welding would easily make dimbles. It's easier to keep surfaces straight with rivets.

I had some spare time today at work, so i planned some decorations.

This one died before borning, but it's twice as fun to make another. It's a first try, so second might be better.

Also you might see that frame is allmost ready for polishing.

    Thanks for the comments everyone!

    Polishing case is now done.

This is how it looks now:

And instead of trying to make some 3d models with google scetchup, i made a "5d model" for the fans witch i'm going to make behind the case. :)

This is not a final look, but you can see the method what i'm going to use. Final fans are 120mm wide, this one is some old for testing.

More detailed pictures are coming after i find some shiny fans for that purpose.

So here's the crappy 5d model for fans:

    And the other side:

Material is same 1mm thick acid proof steel and i used corner grinder, drill, and Tig welding machine.

Ouch this is nice, shining like a mirror.
I asume that black thing is a fan, it looks a bit like a spider; wich off course is cool.

So you wetsanded this by hand? Impressive. I just answered a question about steel polishing in the modding forum, I bet you'd have some valuable input there.
