Assuming its intel based (AMD dosn't have a triple channel offering afaik) and blade servers generally use low tdp chips, it could be using Xeon L5640s, which run $1000 per chip. ($336000 for CPUs)

    RAM regd ECC 6x4GB + 6x2GB: $135000.

Call it $75000 for the motherboards; $15000 for the chassis, racks and power supplies (assuming a fair bit of off the shelf gear).

So we're over 550k, without taking into account HDD/SSD, shipping, installation and the fact that the company providing the product wants a nice chunk of profit.

All idle speculation though untill zz9pzza puts the specs of his the companys rig in his signature!

Don't stress guys, it's just the new bit-tech Minecraft server, we'll loan it out to do some folding whenever the next overtake is close.

According to my quick calculations at $.10 per kWh that's about $86.40 a day in electricity. I'm glad I don't have their power bill! :jawdrop:

That's not really a huge amount of servers for a farm, but fair play to the lad for using F@H for stress testing.

Our data centre manager would murder anyone who tried that shizzle in there

I could've done something like this a few years ago, I was contracted to setup 6 racks of servers and storage for an MoD subcontractor. Except they were bankrupt before they even took me on and the bailiffs turned up to repossess all the gear before I even open the first box.

Pricing with a HP BL460 blade, i worked it out to just over £806k cost, for the blades alone with no hard drives... their 500gb 7.2k rpm is £230ish, so add another £38k...4 year warrenty at £150 so thats another £25k....
And i thought the 32 blade rack i was spec'ing up was pricey!
    God damn.
