Yes, another one of those threads.

Does the new chipset offer enough to warrant the noisy little fan on the mainboard in real life?

Edit: More info: Looking to buy a new system, will include two M.2 SSDs and a fairly good GPU.

A better answer would be the usual answer - it depends. How many PCI-E cards do you have ? Which board do you want to buy ?

For single or two PCI-E card system, it makes no sense.
For three PCI-E cards, depending on board, X570 is probably superior by a long margin.

A good example is ASUS Pro WS X570-ACE - it offers three PCI-E slots, each is at least x8 PCI-E 4.0 in bandwidth. Now sure, PCI-E 4.0 is kinda irrelevant. But that also means each of those slots is also PCI-E 3.0 compatible. So now you got a mainstream board with three x8 3.0 slots. If you got hardware which actually requires three x8 3.0 slots, then this specific X570 board will be superior to every X470 board. Other boards might do x8/x4/x4 or x8/x8/x4 PCI-E 4.0, which again means each of those slots is also PCI-E 3.0.

At same time on X470 your first two slots will be 3.0, but the last x4 slot will be only PCI-E 2.0.

So as i started my answer - it depends. It depends on your choice of board, on your use case.
