We had a competition at work to give away two tickets... In a nightclub, full of drunkereds, five people on stage "Name an artist/s performing at live8 tommorow" One guy: "Cheeky girls"
you think that if hes so passionate about giving to charity (and like bob said in billions) he wouldn't have to read off an auto cue and could have made a nice speech on the spot.
nearly all people of power read from sheets/pre-prepared speeches. No matter how clever you are, you could always say something that from one angle or another can be construed as bad towards someone. thats why speech writers have jobs. and... yeah, gates is a right ************** - dont slag off bill gates charitable side, you start to slag off people who give inordinate amounts to charity and you know what... they stop giving it. edit: although some of the google links seems to indictae theres another hugely wealthy bill gates... i dont get it, that link may be for the wrong gates!
at no point did i slag him off nor do i ever intend to as I admire the bloke for what he has done. yeah some people may hate him but its up to them, if it wasnt for him where would computers be today? I was only saying that because he is so passionate about giving to charity he could have made a speech up. Possibly I did not word it correctly and it came out all worng but hey im no grammer monkey.
Oh get off it. I doubt you could put together a speech on the fly, on live TV to millions in such a historical event and make it sound good. Bill aint rock n roll, he has a corporate image to put across. Im with Bog, it does sound a bit like you're using it as an excuse to dis' Bill for no reason o As for live aid, where is the logic in some people? Some bird came from Aus just to see it in Hyde park. If she had spent her $$$ from air-fair on a donation to charity it would have been better used, no? But she just selfishly wants to see free bands in a foreign country and makes herself feel better by saying it's cause it's for charity. Congrats, woman, i hope you feel good about yourself.
Totaly agreed, I can see some good points, but some realy inapropriate actions taking place like the one mentioned above.
I think it's less about the people donating money themselves and more about the sheer amount of people placing pressure on the worlds leaders to do something about it.
i was rather shocked to find that there was soo much swearing, 2night at around 7ish watching bbc1 and theres swearwords getting fired off in all directions. ive got no real problems with swear words if used in adult environments, but i found my lil 10 year old cousin watching it undoubtedly picking up these words. i dont think it was acceptable or necessary. some of the music was good though, hope the event has the effects it wants too.
well after i finished watching the end of the UK show it turned over to the US one and the kaiser Cheifs were on and i have to say the audience were kinda boring.. some of them just stood there and did nothing while the kaiser cheifs did some great work... do they not no decent music when they hear it.... or do they have to have some swearing in it for them to even open their ears?
