RadeX: I must've missed your join date. So you've stopped lurking now? lol I'll be watching this mod closely
ralph.pickering - it's some kind of screws? Could you show em? I don't have any acces to something like this.. just plain screws, but I like it ;] charl3s_fatal1ty - lurking = looking? nah, was just observing the bit-tech forum from time to time, I haven't got too much time
here are some new photos, the photos without flash are more realistic and shows better how the case looks in real ;] stay tuned ;]
OO i like this so far. And i like the Big Bolts, They give the PC a Industrial Look IMO. This Project also gives me ideas for my next PC Keep the work up
It may just be that I can't see everything in the pictures but it looks like the case is quite susceptible to squashing like a cardboard box without its flaps closed. All the structural bolts are positioned such that he only thing keeping it up is the friction of the bolt head and nut keeping the joints from sliding besides the geometry of how the two pieces of angle come together but that only serves as a stop and leaves quite a bit of play. If you want to avoid this you can add a few small gussets spanning the corners. The case looks great so far, keep up the good work.
striker - some "industrial look", that was my point too ;] zackbass - if I got everything alright what you said then.. don't worry the construction is stabil, screws are sitting in holes tight so they aren't moving. whole construction is perfect ;] here is some update with the front panel:
I like the detail on the front. In my opinion you should change those bolts for those that are meant for wood, you know?
that is some very very nice work you have done there. Im very impress (not that it matters hehehe) i do agree with some others that the screws seem rather large but they do if you are going for the industrial look. Have you considered using rivets maybe? Not sure if they are available to you or not.
If you've got a dremel... sand down the bolts, then cut in some new screw holes Remember to try it on one bolt before doing it on all of them though Its apparently worked for some people...
