hmmm i kinda expected more from 4 cores... its only about 8000 and 2000 respectively faster in sandra than my X2
Yeah i'm loosing around 7500 somewhere according to this at gamepc but not sure where..........the Bios is taking some getting used to and i'm in the middle of reading a thread at 2CPU.com to glean some info but its like 160 pages long Maybe Vadim can help me out here
I've been keeping up on that thread since the beginning. Below is how I set my bios. I seem to get benchmark results on par with the max performance of others. I'll assume you're using the latest bios (1.01). Most bios settings I leave as default but in Hammer Config I change these values: Memory Hole: -4 GB mem hole adjust: Auto -memhole mapping: Hardware (you might try software, tho since you only have 2 gigs this setting might not even be enabled for you) Memory Config: -controller config: manual -read preamble: 4ns (use A64Tweaker to find lowest stable value) -async latency: 5ns (A64Tweaker again) -mem 2T timing: 1T (most important setting) -timing config: Auto (feel free to try more aggressive timings with your ram) That's pretty much it for performance tweaking. The rest of the settings are either best left at default or are pretty self explanitory.
Hey Schroedinger i appreciate that Yes i flashed to 1.01 and think i've been trying to make it harder than it actually is Plus i was using an old copy of Sandra so i'm running 05 now I was still only onto page 36 of the ever growing 2CPU thread with something like another 150 pages to go One thing that does stand out on this board is how stable it all is compared to anything else ive used so might end up using this as my new multimedia PC Thanks for taking the time out
Can't thank you enough Shroedinger Got hooked up to the net and d/loaded SP2 etc things are much better Sandra 05 CPU Arithmatic Benchmark 30256 clicky Sandra 05 CPU Multi-Media Benchmark 68050 clicky Now i can get back to getting the case in order
I'm interested to see how far you can overclock those processors. I wouldn't be surprised if you could hit 2.2 GHz or beyond (that 9 multipler and your memory will probably be your bottleneck and not the cpu's themselves) I can bring my 250s (e4 stepping) up to 2808 MHz.
Yea, oc would be very nice keeping in mind the temps which were awesome (22° C I think, right?)... Give it a try.
Well now the BIOS seems to be set up and everything is running silky smooth it was time to move onto getting the rest of the case sorted out.... Its been seen three times before but its always nice to keep a record of it so here goes with the window mod Starting of with covering the side panel with masking tape and using the template from the Ventmaster to draw the outline of the window and then using the biggest drill bit my drill can take i drilled a starter hole for the jig-saw and here it is cut out and ready to mask up for paint. Just a couple of wafts of primer as i didn't want to build up to much paint which would create a build up between the masking tape ant the metal so it this is what it looked like close up after primer. Didn't take long for the primer to go off in this weather so straight onto the blue which was the same paint i used for the pump which isn't an exact match but close enough as its just the very edge that's being painted. Once that had dried.....flipped it over and added double sided sticky around the edge.... ...and added a mirror window which is basically the same used on car screens from Halfords (UK car shop) And there you have it......i'll get the whole case machine polished in a couple of day and may even do another window as that mirror film is a nightmare to work with and ended up with a few bubbles but looks good all the same BTW there bags of gravel in the reflection that my bro keeps dropping off here........don't ask - it'll get sorted im told
Will you be able to see through that window with the internals lit up or is it THAT "mirrorey"? I was about to ask what's with the paint... but then realized how you mount the window and you don't want that nasty edge. Maybe that's what I'll do with FrozenFire... it's so simple!
please don't machine polish it! you've already got one polished WaveMaster, just keep this one blue. i love blue cases!
machine polish is probably a buffer, i doubt he'd bother blue painting then removing it, would you mmm?
Themed PC's........one for every room of course Nearly forgot........just a quick run through how the hard drive ended up getting mounted. As the Tyan board is so large and extends into the drive bay area and there is nowhere else to mount the hard drive i had to do some quick thinking and came up with this little device that would keep the hard drive over to the left hand side (looking at the front of the case) but still be able to secure it to the right hand side so it wasn't just hanging. Anyway i had some angle aluminium left over from making the radiator mounts so this is what i came up with. After measuring up cut the angle aluminium into lengths....BTW i'm using a Maxtor HD for fitting as its a lot less expensive if it got dropped Drilled and tapped a few holes ....drilled some more and fastened them together with stainless steel hex bolts with lock nuts and the other side More drilling tapping and fastening until it was ready to do a trial run to mark the final to holes which lined up once it was in place And finally it was ready to mount to the hard drive...the Raptor this time! Fits like a glove and nobody will be none the wiser
