i want to water cool my pc as its very noisy and gets stupidly hot

    i have a AMD 2700 overclocked to 2.4ghz
    on an epox 9rda motherboard
    in a cheiftec dx-01 case

i was thinking about something like this

Alphacool NexXxos Extreme III rad £33
    Alphacool AP700 Centrifugal pump 12V £44
    Swiftech MCW6000-A AMD K7 Waterblock 3/8 Fittings £19
    1/4 to 3/8 barbs
    3/8 pipe
and im not sure about gpu block

any ideas on how to improve or anything that would work

im on quite a tight budget so any ways to make it cheaper would also be gd

    cheers mike

Stay with 1/4" barbs and tubing, or 3/8". You will get no benefit from using 3/8" tubing and barbs bolted onto a 1/4" system.

Heatsink? I take it you mean waterblock.

Doesn't matter in any case. You cannot mix barb sizes (well you can, but you get pretty poor results). Either pick components that all have 1/4" barbs, or that all have 3/8" barbs. There is no way around this.

Hmmm... might work, but that depends on the barbs. I guess we need Coolermeister's insights here.

Yeah i think all is compatible to run with 3/8" (10mm) hose tail barbs.

As for a GPU block you could try a Maze4 GPU with 3/8" barbs as they pretty much fit all GFX cards on the market today though as your going for the Swiftech CPU block you may try sourcing a Swiftech GPU block from the same retailer.

Having said that, there is no harm in using different blocks providing you keep the hose tail size the same which might be the way to go if your on a limited budget.

The Alphacool NexXxos Extreme III rad @ £33 sounds like a bargin!

Either way, let us know what you end up going for and how satisfied you are :thumb:

Are these push fits on the swiftech block?

have a look here for an animation on how they work. They arent going to fall out if you install them properly

I trust my pushfit Plug and Cool connectors before I trust any barb. And the performance is relatively better (for ex, a 3/8" barb has an ID of about 1/4", where the P&C fittings intended for 6mmID tubing actually let you use all of that 6mm).

I can easily hold up probably my entire watercooling system by a single tube, and I've got four blocks, two rads and a metal res. I wouldn't, but they fit in that well.
