Was at a car show a few months back and I saw these new fully road-legal buggies. They come under various names (Urban Buggy or RoadRunners), single or two seater and road-legal or off-road.

My brother and I are thinking about getting the two-seater road-legal version (400cc). Total works out about £4000 inc £800 insurance (which ain't bad for a bit of summer fun and bored weekends :naughty: ).

I know there are quite a few motor heads on the forums, so I'm just curious if anyone's come across these before and know anything I should be aware of. To me it looks a great recreational vehicle.

    Yeah, exactly... ;)
The insurance usually isn't too bad on a MX5 either.

If you're looking at an alternative road vehicle, why not think about one of these. VW rear end, IRS, 1.6L - 1.9L engines. Here is the link to their website. These get used for tours up and down the coast here all the time. It's a shame that such a quality product has such a poor website.

I reckon you could get an old convertible for about 4k.

    Good luck,

That's what I've decided to do, the VW buggies look fantastic.

Oh, and thank you for being the first sensible reply. ;)

In that case, I'd better point you at www.volkszone.com

The tech section of the forum is amazing and full of clever people who know everything about aircooled cars and the chat/discussion section is great fun...

I have an Albar, long wheel base buggy, btw :D

Edit. keep an eye on the for sale section too, you never know what you might find, it's where I found mine.

www.beachbuggies.org.uk is an MSN group thingy with a fairly active message board/forum and a good for sale section too.
