Right when i came to swtich my computer on yestarday evening there was and still is no audio, it's an onboard AC'97 pos, but it has to do the job for just now, anyway here is what i have tried so far:-

    -Clean install of XP
-Installing the nforce and ac97 drivers in different orders etc
-double, triple and quadruple checked the jumpers on the motherboard
-Checked it is switched on in the bios (it has 2 options, disable and auto)

and here is some screen shots of my device manager list and audio doo-da..

Wrong forum, and it looks like you just need to install the driver.

    EDIT: just re-read your post.
If you've already tried to install and re-install the correct drivers then it may be dead? Or, have you recently flashed your BIOS or played with the settings? Make sure onboard audio is enabled and is on the default irqs etc.
Try loading the drivers manually (right click in device manager etc.) to force the correct driver on the device.
Otherwise just get a new pci soundcard and use that.

Get a new mobo then

Doesn't the chip maker of your audio have any diagnostic file downloads on their site, so you can confirm if the onboard is dead or not?

i had a leak yestarday, but its all patched up now, and i spent 2 hours making sure the mobo was dry, which is obviously isn't so i am going to put it in the oven now at 60 degrees for 2 hours to make sure it is bone dry
