Yeah sometimes I have to urge to do the same. I ripped these apart for a holloween costume I was gonna make.

And i thought this was cool. I shaved the pins and opened the core on an old 486. The stock one its on the left and the modded (lol) is on the right. It looks super cool irl.

    Just thought I would share.

I'm just thinking... if you cut the pins off a processor, wouldn't that make it socket-t? :D

lol you don't even need the electron microscope to see the layout of the chip  Gogo 6 micron process! (well I think 8088 was 6 micron, I don't think the P1 had broken 1 micron though)

All you with those misc salvagable chipset heatsinks... just going into a pile of crap.

I've opened two Pentium 133MHz CPUs and the cores are BIGGER than the 486 cores. I have nine 486 chips in my processor collection, so I had a couple doubles of chips that I spared for my own enjoyment. :)

If you take old proce3ssors, bake them on the stove for about 10-20 s, grab them with a pair of pliers, and wack them against something hard, you can knock the die covering plate off without damaging anything else.

    Pretty Colors!

I took an old P1 processor and drilled a hole through one corner to put through a keychain. It looked cool but stabbed me all the time in my pocket. Never really too the time to take off the pins. I just got rid of it.
