For the fileserver and smoothwall, I wouldn't worry about KVM switches - both can be run in "headless mode" - i.e. no monitors or keyboards (other than for setting up the machines ) Smoothwall is configured via a webpage anyway, so no need for a monitor for that. Install something like VNC on the fileserver, and use that to manage the server from your other PC. That will instantly clear up your deskspace

Nice monitors, don't you think? I've got the 19" version of that Samsung for my primary, which I paid $190 w/tax for, and then my 17" just like yours for $74 w/tax (Staples clearance). I love the clarity and color depth from them. X_X Looks great though, it's giving me some ideas....... Good job on the wall panel for your network, cable and phone lines. I used to install those when I was with DBNetworkz here in Boise.
