this is still looking amazing, keep up the good work... personally im not keen on the red switches, i'd maybe have used a alu switch or summit... still amazing tho
it's taken me a good 30 minutes to read all the interesting posts and skip the one liners like "ooh cool j00 for teh win!!111oneoneone!!1" I have to say your work is incredible and i'd love to what you have planned next. What kind of hardware are you planning to use in this? Have you contacted nVidia or ATi for some sort of sponsorship?
From a lowly wannabe modder/fabricator I would like to join the chourus and say that Darkblade is some very nice work G69T! Dare I say "cutting-edge"? (pun intended) I have enjoyed the arguments thus far concerning the validity of modding vs what I would call fabrication. I can see both sides. I think it might be a good idea to think about seperating the 2 in this hallowed forums as a sub-cat of Project Logs. Let's face it, the more that design drives this hobby/way-of-life, the more that full on custom cases will come out (WMD, Darkblade, Orac3...etc.) Just a thought, regardless I am looking forward to the finale of this design. Truly this project inspires us all. Keep it up man!
like the back thing except for the 2 switches they FEEL too industrial i think these are nice for the design http://www.frozencpu.com/ele-70.html but that is just my taste
Wow! I say it again, Wow! I love the back panel that you put on there, but I disagree with everyone else about the switches. I think they add interest to the case (like it's lacking any!). I suppose some different switches might look better, but the vandal switches already suggested are very common and also don't quite fit (especially considering you already cut the holes!). Keep making me feel inadaquite, it's good for my ego. [slightly offtopic] I like the thoughts of Shomann about fabrication.
But those aren't on/off switches, they're momentary. The do look nice, though. Great work as always G69T!
Looks awesome, especially considering we haven’t even begun to see the actual CASE part of this case I think it’s too early to say whether the switches fit well or not, obviously the man has a plan and seeing what he has done so far I would assume that it will turn out amazing
The whole thing is dead sexy, but those switches don't fit imho. Yeah, they're industrial looking, but they're not sleek like the rest of the case. Possibly something with a capacitive touch switch and some custom milled plexi/aluminum combination. Since I'm guessing that the switches run the pumps, you'd want a relay to be flipped on by the touch-sensor chip. that's easily done with a pair of QT110 chips and a 2N2904 transistor, a diode, and a few resistors. Go for it!
i quote fev... why not look for a sponsor? quoto fav, perchè non una sponsorizzazione? non sarebbe una cattiva idea imho. cmq bella gian, complimenti!
