I think that Nexxo is the only "real" doctor in the house, even if he is rather specialized. But were all smart and willing to give advise that may or may not seriously injure you and your family.
I am basically having some concerns regarding my health. I have been on lexapro (SSRI Anti-depressent) 20mg for roughly 2 and half months. I originally started on 5mg then 10mg. My moods have improved alot and generally am feeling much better. However, unfortuantely I am feeling extremely tired, more than when I was 10mg. I normally get roughly 14 hours sleep. I have tried working out more recently, however it hasn't quite done the trick. Any recommendations? My GP mentioned I should get another blood test just to eliminate the fact it's definitely down to depression. All in all am feeling 80% recovered. But my tireness is extremely fustrating. I was expecting the tiredness to go down, but it seems it's getting slightly worse. Thanks.
Yes. That's 14 hours a day unfortuantely. I've tried waking up much earlier recently but still no go. I presume it's the side effects of the tablets.
I really think you need to talk to a doctor, and not on a computer forum. If you aren't happy with what they tell you then ask to see a different one.
What about Sleep Apnea? I was diagnosed with it last Spring and sleeping longer than normal along with not having a restful sleep is a common symptom. Also, Lexapro (and other anti-depressents) can worsen depression in younger adults, which can cause sleep problems. Nexxo would be a good person to ask...
i have a friend thats on his third set of anti-depresants and two of them made him more tired, thats why hes on the ones hes got right now, i dont know the name of it im afraid but could find out. you would probably be better off going to a specialist as GPs will just prescribe u different anti-depresants untill u stop comlaining and many anti-depresants can make u worse rather than better. My m8 ended up reviewing his life instead of just taking anti depresants and getting on with it, hes got a new job (which made a huge difference) and stopped drinking alchohol as much (which also seemed to help). I'm not saying stop taking them as that can be dangerous, im just saying u should not just rely on the anti-depresants to chear u up. think about ur job and wether u'd be happier somewhere else, maybe somewhere with better job prospects (dont just think about pay) and see if there is anything u can do to make u more active (preferably outdoor activity). (sorry if i rambled, and remember, im not a health care proffesional)
Many thanks. As for getting better, the cause of my depression came down to University and how much crap I had on my plate. I took a break and am starting University this september. Am feeling much better and my moods are getting better too. However, unfortunately I haven't fully recovered. I'd say am 80% myself which was a big difference 6 months back. I've been on a high dose for a while now (2-3 months) and am really tired.
OK, he said that the tiredness could be due to anything, including your medicine, so you should just go to your GP and get a blood test, as you said already. That consulation will be £20 please. Just joking Hope you get it sorted. ch424
Hi, Sorry to hear about your health-problems. But really the chance that there is a specialised doctor on this forum is quite small. First you need to see if your GP is any "good" to start with. A good GP should redirect you to a specialist for this sort of thing. Imo a GP is for a cold and for doing a 'checkup' and then redirecting you to the right expert/specialist. I think you really need to see a specialist before you go on any anti-depression, especially if you are having this effects. So in short: go see an expert! Good luck, hope you recover soon enough. L
im on 20mgs of prozac (another anti depressent) and sometimes i fall asleep in class, i get EXTREMELY tired but i just deal with it, better than feeling useless I guess
