it depends a lot on the config - mainly on how frequently it's updating, and you can just turn it off of course.

First your "show desktop" problem. While SAurize is running, launch the "Instance Manager". Select the "Default" instance (which is the config that is running now --each config is an instance. You can have several configs running concurrently with Instance Manager. This is no appreciable additional strain on your CPU). Find the "Instance Options" button and select "Pin to Desktop". That should do the trick.

The analogue clock is made using the Time meter set as analogue. You need three overlapping analogue dials: one for seconds, one for minutes and one for hours. You need to mess with some variables to get the hands to work correctly-- too much to go into here but the Samurize website has a forum which explains such things. You may need to use a .jpg or .png image for the dial.

The calendar is a plug-in which you can download from the Samurize website.

The CPULoad meter is basically a PerfMon meter.

@ chemo: the CPU load for Samurize is about 3%, when updating every 1 second.

ok not a real desktop screenshot - but i did change my setup around a bit last week :)

had to take the monitor shelf off the desk, and put the tower on top cause the vga cable wouldnt reach it on the floor ...

and that's a 27" westinghouse HD monitor - 1280x720 ... mounted on an arm that can barely handle it. will change it up later when i get my old room back (if the ex ever moves out)... cheap arm will go to the 17" and the 27" will probably go back on the stand on top of the other desk (has a huge hutch) ...

my next upgrade will probably be a proper 5.1 speaker set, if i can find one with dual inputs that are switchable.

the hd cable box gets the 27"s dvi via a hdmi-dvi cable ... and the vga from the 9600pro

the 17 is getting the dvi from the 9600pro... and will soon get the vga from my spare k6/2 533, after i put some sort of linux on it.

    Remember this one?

Just to let you know that due to popular request, I have arranged for this Samurize config to be downloadable at the Samurize website. It now includes the two fonts and all the plug-ins and scripts you need to run this thing.

    http://www.samurize.com/modules/mydownloads/visit.php?cid=11&lid=1780

By the way, I'm currently working on a suite based around this theme:

... including an iPulse type thingy. :)
