Working here, interesting that they've stayed with 16 pipes, but I've read somewhere that they are designed to do more work or something? Not sure

Next up is the Radeon X1800 XL, which is positioned between the GeForce 7800 GTX and the 7800 GT. The XL drops the core clock down to 550MHz, and the memory clock down to 625MHz. Other than the lower clock speeds, the XL is identical to the XT, meaning it still has 512MB of GDDR3 memory connected to a 256-bit memory bus.

this could be the pick of the bunch as im sure it will overclock and with water and vmod it should fly past gtx ass. ;)

I'm always frustrated by statements like that. I constantly read people recommending buying a lower end product and then OC to a higher end product. That's fine for the budget shopper but you can't compare performance that way. Yeah, this new ATI card might OC faster than a stock GTX but an OC'd GTX will in turn smoke the OC's ATI. (That is if ATI's performance turns out the way people think at the moment. We all need to wait for some real numbers to come out).
