Hey guys i was just removing the controler board from my lcd for a mod im doing and ive slipped and broken something. im not sure exactly wat is is but its the same size as a switching diode. http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/Full/46386i0.jpg it is a transperant red colour, with a thin black line half way along and instead of a big BLACK stripe it has a YELLOW one

can anyone please help me identify wat the part is?

    Thanks

some sort of diode, possibly zener, fairly easy to replace
EDIT: Be careful - if it is a zener, it might be a power regulation one, be careful and get the right type

No way to tell if it's a Zener without either measuring its electronic characteristics or reading the code off it.

looks like all it is, is a Ge diode rather than a Si diode.

this is the broken lcd board as u can see D11 is missing, not being able to find any values on the similar parts. D9 and D10 look identical and the yellow band faced the vga connector on D11 if this is any help

de-solder another one, chances are they are the same, and then take it to an electronics shop, thay can often test it for you. (Judging by the pic it is not a power-reg one so a similar one should be fine)
