Hey guys, I'm looking for a laptop for college. I will spend $1400 MAX on the laptop, and I'm looking for something that's really good performance wise, and decent looking. (No tacky alienwares :S) Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks a lot.

I would probably look for a used laptop, depending on your needs. If you simply need it for the basics then there are plenty of good places to find decent cheap laptops (under $1000). If you want to game at all then you will be looking a little harder, try discountlaptops.com

with just a quick search on newegg, these caught my eye.

One thing to keep in mind is size, i went with something smaller because i knew i would be traveling with it quite often so choose according to what you're going to be doing. Also think about the components you know and like.

Some things to really look for are:
CPU: AMD Turion 64 or Intel Pentium M
    Memory: at least 512mb
HD: size is up to you, but 5400 rpm is definetly dominating over 4200 rpm.
Video: 64mb dedicated preferable (i regret going with shared)

Also keep battery life in mind, the more powerful and the larger the screen the faster it will eat though that battery.
