    Hi,

Im looking at replacing my shuttle with another self build SFF based on a micro atx motherboard.

I have seenthe Foxconn NF4K8MC-EKRS which meets my requirements (PCIe, socket 939 accepting X2 chips).

Anyone know of any others? I'd like to at least have to choose between 2.

    Thanks for any help

I have one of those foxconns somewhere, nought wrong with it, just dont expect any kinda overclocking......

There are some "better" Asus one out or to be launched soon.

don't get the foxconn 939 board. the lack of v-dimm adjustment will limit ram choices.

I have heard great things about the BIOSTAR TForce6100-939 as an overclockers board and I'm buying one for that reason not the fact it's a mATX board oh and that they are cheap (ish)

    I use a MSI K8NGM2-FID. It's decent, the things that I don't like though:
Has VGA and DVI ports, but the DVI is DVI-D (works with DVI TVs and LCDs, but not with DVI>VGA adaptor) and there isn't dual monitor support. Why they didn't just put in a DVI-I is beyond me. The BIOS is annoying for booting. You can only boot from one hard drive (In the boot order it just says "hard drive", then below you pick which hard drive) and one CD-ROM. Can be annoying in some scenarios. The ports go PCIe1, PCIe16, PCI, PCI, so it's not too great if you have a big video card heatsink and want to run two PCI cards. PCIe16, PCIe1, PCI, PCI would probably be better at the moment due to lack of PCIe1 cards, but I suppose the way it is now will be the best for upgradability, as there should be some PCIe1 cards soon, and you'll be able to have as big a video card heatsink as you want without interfering with the PCIe1 slot.

Otherwise, excellent board. For dual channel, make sure one stick is in the green slot and the other is in the purple adjacent to it. Mine supported X2 chips right off the bat without a BIOS flash.

So the 6100/6150 series seems to be the chipset to go for, is there much difference in the gpu speed/feature set?

I've heard (on some of the HTPC forums) that a few people have had problems with both the Abit & Gigabyte 6150 mobos.
The recommendation I keep hearing is for the MSI K8NGM2-FID which costs about £60-£65, and provides VGA/DVI onboard,
    & composite/S-Video & component video outputs via a header.
(Needless to say, this is on my HTPC upgrade wishlist!)

What about this mATX board, seems to be getting rave reviews in socket 754 and 939 packages. Is there a real downside to it? I'll be using a 3700+ san diego so the limiting HTT shouldn't be a problem should it (even though it appears to go to 300fsb)

Well the tforce looks like it's going to get the nod, shame they couldn't release a 6150/430 version.

Smoove, what sort of temps is your system running at?

Typically I idle at sub-30 degrees. Usually hovers at 28-29 degrees Celsius and gets up to the low 40's under load. However, if I open the window next to the case, I can get it to idle at 20c :)

I would go with the BIOSTAR board if you are wanting to buy now. If you can wait a while I believe EVGA will be releasing a SFF board that is able to do SLI. (That would be sweet!). Also, I have heard through the grapevine that DFI is supposed to release an enthusiast SFF board. I don't know if it's going to have the NVidia chipset, but I wouldn't get anything else besides an NVidia chipset.

Good luck and feel free to ask any other questions.

    Thanks
