Discussion here Or VTS (Voiture Type Sportive), will decide later. As you may have guessed, those are both car names. I love cars, especially the Honda Type-R cars, so why not? Anyway, the project started today when i installed mbm and noticed that the heat inside my case is a way too high. Also, i haven't modded for a while (except cars), and last summer i got a lot of experience with fiber glass. never before i've been able to do exactly what i want, but NOW i can. Let the modding begin: My case, the way it's been since i stopped modding it; it wouldn't become any prettier, i'd just waste my money.. The front panel removed and in the workshop: (I just had to try to remove sam ) Proof of that i've modded it earlier too with no success: The first hole: Not getting anywhere with this Time to call the reinforcements. It's ruined ...Not. Alright, at this point, it's time to call the friend of everyone who has ever made a custom bumber, sideskirts or scoop for a car. It's ruined allright. Tomorrow, when the polyurethane has dried, it's time to force it into the shape i want it to be.
I dont quite understand what you are trying to acheive. As for it being called Type-R, I hope your going to put some seriously fast hardware in there .
polyurethane? wtf... thats like insulation..... personally, most people i know who modify car's use FIBREGLASS!!!! not insulation rofl was the afro affect wanted on the case? btw, your going to have to use TONS of bondo tbh, as the polyurethane traps air (why its a good insulator for houses) so youve kind of gone against yourself, would have been easier to use mesh, glue it, then apply bondo over it (a good way to make a bonnet scoop)
duh, i designed and made 4 sets of bumbers and side skirts last summer, "trust me, i know what i'm doing" See, when the polyurethane has dried, it's easy to modify into the shape i want, with a sawblade, knife and sandpaper.. When it looks almost like i want it to look, i apply the fiberglass, then gelcoat, then a few layers of fiberglass. I let it dry, then i remove the urethane and bottom fiberglass and tada! i got a model. Some more fiber glass and gelgoat where the urethane and bottom layer used to be, i got a copy of the shape of polyurethane. That's, if i don't want to leave the urethane in my case. If i want, i just apply the fiberglass on the urethane, sand it, paint it, it's ready. (sorry if it's too hard to understand, english isn't my native language.)
ahhh thats more like it i thought you were just going to shape it and leave it good man your doing it the real way
Okay, so i shaped it, applied the fiber glass, sanded it... it's starting to look like i wanted.. even got photos, but looks like i can't get them out of the camera before monday, thanks to him: (can't buy a new usb cable until monday )
Alright, i already told in the discussion thread that i can't get the photos out of the camera, but my gf had uploaded photos earlier today (of our dogs) and my project photos too. Today i have shaped it, sanded, applied glass fiber, sanded some more, but i have only some photos of the shaping process. This might be the reason if there's no progress with the case some day: Snow isn't bad.. Snow is good... but ice sucks. anyway, this is what i have to drive with (summer tyres, the company should change them next week) (The workshop is in my parents' basement, and it's a long way there from where i live) Alright, then some progress. I knew urethane grows when it dries, but i didn't remember it's this much: The tools An unpleasant surprise Same thing here But who cares, i just cut those wet parts out and hot glued pieces of cut urethane there, it works. The few other photos i have More photos if i get an usb cable somewhere...
Yay, my gf had uploaded some photos before the beast ate the cable. Updated. It looks better atm, tho
