Since a lot of people are now having X2 processors, and probably more with Christmas coming up, I've set up an X2 overclocking thread. Post details for AMD ATHLON OR OPTERON 64 X2 PROCESSORS ONLY.

You should post the following details:
    • CPU name and rating
    • Motherboard type and name
    • RAM name (And stock speeds/timings)
    • Cooling type
    • Overclocked CPU speed and voltages
    • Overclocked RAM speed and voltages

You could also mention your benchmark scores too.

    X2 Processor details (stock):
    • 3800+ (2.0GHz @ 512KB L2)
    • 4200+ (2.2GHz @ 512KB L2)
    • 4400+ (2.2GHz @ 1MB L2)
    • 4600+ (2.4GHz @ 512KB L2)
    • 4800+ (2.4Ghz @ 1MB L2)

    Benchmark tests
    • Prime95
    • Memtest86
    • WinRar to 1min
    • SuperPi to 1mil
    • 3DMark01/03/05
    • Stress Prime 2004
    • SiSoftSandra Arithmetic Test
    • SiSoftSandra Multimedia Test

    System Info software
    • CPU-Z
    • PCWizard 2005
    • SiSoftSandra

*goes to get super- pi and stuff, will post benchs later
Highest OC i can get with my 3800 X2
    [IMG]

    Specs:
    Mobo: MSI K8n Neo4-F
RAM: Geil Value 1Gb kit (2x512mb)
    CPU: AMD 3800 X2 duh... :p
    PSU: Tagan 420 Watt
Cooling: Zalman CNPS7700-Cu (the huge 120mm one)

Right then, Super Pi mod 1M:
    266FSB(x10)
    Memory clock: 177Mhz/266 FSB @ 2.5,3,3,6(2.85V)

    eh, only 36s

    295FSB(x9)
    Memory clock: 190Mhz/295 FSB @ 2.5,3,3,5 (2.85V)

    333FSB(x8)
    Memory clock: 222Mhz/333 FSB @ 2.5,3,4,8 (2.85V)

sorry about the huge screens, I can't help it when i run on 2048*1536 :D

    More specs:
    OC Vcore: 1.66V
    OC Vdimm: 2.85V
    Stock mem timings: 200mhz @ 2.5,3,3,6/ 166Mhz @ 2.5,3,3,5 (can easily do 2.5,2,2,5 with abit of voltage)
    Stock cpu: 2Ghz @1.35V

    Issues & Stablity:
@ 333Fsb(x8) my temp monitoring goes crazy and reports the CPU: @ 127C (in mbm, speedfan & systool) but in SP2004 the cpu temps are correct. At 333Fsb it seems pretty stable, I don't get any BSODS but it cant complete 8m Super pi and fails on sp2004.

@ 266 FSB (x10) Its is completely stable, it passes super pi 32m and doesn't seem to fail on sp2004.

And finally, @ 295FSB(x9) its seems to be in the middle it can pass super pi 8M but not 32M and sometimes fails sp2004.

I think that should keep you lot occupied :thumb:

Is that stable or good for just running the numbers before it crashes?

    • DFI NF4 SLI-DR
    • X2 4400+
    • 2gig ballistix pc4000
    • watercooled, tdx
    • 2.6gig 1.5v
    • 260fsb 3-3-3-7 2.9v

it'll probably do higher fsb with less multi (cpu just wont go over 2.7gig at 1.5v) but i'd have to reboot to do that :p

nope a x2 cpu is a cpu with 2 cores by amd, yours only has one. - the x2's are seen in the first post

its a toledo core - the exact same as the 4400 and 4800, just with a different name on the heatsreader

    2x 1MB cache
    1.8 stock speed
    1.35 stock voltage

Just because you dont want me here pwning your max overclock :p

^Well name wise an opteron DC is not a X2 but it is a Dual Core Cpu, so it's hard to say... but since its an X2 core its partly an X2, so I say Get your screenies up :thumb:

If it's a Toledo, then call it an X2. I always thought the Opties used slightly different cores, though.

You can use a razor blade, I believe. Just be careful not to strip the capacitor packs off ;)
