I have a DVD server - basically disc-less storage of my DVD collection. I use MCE 2005 with the MyMovies plugin.

Thats what they said about CD's. I remember the guy from Tomorrow's World smearing a disc in custard, jumping on it etc and saying this will have no affect at all....but the reality is you still have to handle them like vinyl....

Blu-Ray gets my vote though....just because the name sounds cool....

    Nope the 940GB is in the HTPC itself. It's across 3 drives. 1x 300, 2x 320's
The media server has 2.2TB of storage. That's a different PC.
320 GB on the HTPC is for HD recording. I don't keep or archive that stuff. I just record, watch and delete but there are times we don't get to watch the stuff right away so having extra space is good.
I went to a disc-less system because there is a new baby in the house. All her videos are easily accessed through MCE. No PB&J in the DVD drive. The PC sits behind the glass door of the AV cabinet, worst case some finger prints on the glass.
