    Great stuff, I love it.

However I would have liked to see the dual go ahead..... even though we all know who the most likely winner would be ;)

I like Paul's Paradox... That might be the only true reason

But because 10 is so much, here's my top 5

    5. Intel is busy making a new chipset-board for the duel
    4. For the duel Intel couldn't find some graphic card to fit their brand new PCIe-XXX slot
    3. The rules weren't "bendable" in their direction
    2. Intel is a chicken, afraid to loose their monopoly
    1. Why duel, if you rule the mindless market?

Hmm, off cause we know that, the best one will win the duel :)

That was awesome, reminds me of those Sun vs Dell ads. Could this be a hilarious new marketing trend?

    1. Amd's tests favoured the cpu with the bets performance, not the fanciest marketing strategy, serious, who wants a FAST cpu when you can have a slow, overheating POS with strong market backing.... and everyone knows hyper threading has been doing dual core for ages..... pfft amd are copy cats

i found that article most amusing when i saw it the other day
how long have opterons/a64's been out now? 2 years? more?
intel are going to take another 2 years at least to come up with a counter to them? should bloody well hope its faster when its 4-5 years further down the line :p

I agree just because their new bus is faster than AMD's current bus. CSI may not be able to compare to hypertransport 2 years from now. 2 year is ages in the tech sector. Also i think intel choice for puting it in the Itanium before the xeon is a mistake as the Itanium may be gone by then if current trends continue
In the end the only way to know is to wait and find out.

also for amd's ad i think it is good for them to help sway the mindless masses

I almost feel sorry for Intel, the only area they're actually doing any good in right now is laptop processors, which I guess will keep them making a bit of money, but basicly, all their other CPU's, compared to AMD's of the same price...suck :|

In 2008 AMD will have found many new and creative ways to beat intel. To me it looksintel is getting desperate, if AMD can perfect its turion laptop processor intel will have to find somthing new to suck at. ha ha intels been pwned

whats the deal? un happy AMD pawns intel?

    < AMD fan since his 1st sx25 later a k?233, then k6-2 333@350, k6-2 450, k6-2 550, Duron 750, Athlon Tbird 1200 133 fsb, 1700+, 1900+, 2600+ @2.4ghz 2600+ -m 2.45ghz, and lastly A64 3000+ 754.

The one cpu I wish I realy had at the time would have been a K6-III 450!

#1 reason why AMD pawns intel
AMD didnt try the "GHZ marketing game" instead worked on "work per clock cycle" boy has It paid off since the XP/MP core!

    Mmmm, I've only had my own PC since xmas 1999, but my CPU history has been;
    Athlon 500Mhz (Slot A)
    T'Bird 1.0Ghz (o/c'ed to 1.4)
    XP3200

...and planning on an X2 next year.

Thing is, my dad never went for Intel CPU's either (always went for either AMD or Cyrix) just because of the price - that might've subconsciously affected my CPU decisions (my dad has this thing about supporting the underdog - er, actually, so do I!).

(hehe, I actually considered getting the K6-III for my first machine, but waited a little longer (and saved a bit more cash) and went for the Athlon instead)

Hmmm someones ever heard of the pentium M! Its annoying in away, im a big intel fanboy and im not ashamed to admit that, but intel have the pentium M which is hands down the fastest gaming processor around!! Yet then insist on still pumping out the netburst architecture on p4's if they swallowed their pride and released the yonah core in the same manner as the p4 the world would be a better place!

Well, you do confess to being an Intel fanboy, but seriously, the P-M, while a damn fine processor it may be, doesn't come close to a highly clocked san diego core for gaming. P4 would need a shorter pipeline in order to be any good for games, those pipelines are about twice the length of P-M ones.
