howdy all well, ok, so there hasnt been much updating in the past few days, but ive done some work i finsihed the other drive holder off, and it looks good, i took some pictures but seem to have lost them, so ill take some more later today (its 3:20 atm) so this morning i woke up, well, got woken up by my dad who was like get the hell out of bed, i didnt want to, because i was tired, as usual, but he said i was finally getting my yamaha fs1e MOT'd, so yeah, i did get up, and then set off in the rain/ice and rode 4 miles to the MOT place and got the mot (failed first time passed after a tiny bit of work) so afterwards we were like... what to do, what to do, and my dad was like didnt you need to goto B&Q and halfords, so yeah, we went to B&Q and i ended up getting a REAL dremel... ok, i lie, i ended up getting 2!, then i realised i didnt have any sandpaper, so we went into halfords and got some sandpaper... all in all, today = sucess so.... on with the piccehs! ^ sandpaper = good ^ dremel box = good ^ dremely goodness ^ the billet lump of aluminium how it was - quite a crappy state tbh ^ a tub of WARM water - its freezing cold in the garage, the least i wanted was for my hands to be slightly warm while wetsanding ^ sandy sandpaper ^ 240 grit down ^ 400 grit down ^ 800 grit down ^ 1200 grit down now at this stage i made the choice to start polishing - because i felt like it - at first i used the dremel and some chrome + aluminium polish, but the results werent that pleasing.... ^ so i was like... dammit thats what happens when you use the dremel, it creates a ton of patterns due to the small surface area.... ^ after some hand polishing - damn knackering ^ bit shinier ^ bit shinier - can still see the marks from the dremel ^ nice shot to show the reflectiveness ^ SHINNEEEEEE ^ fear the shineh! ^ what i was listening to while shinifying now - its not done, theres a ton more polishing work to be done on it, but im happy with how its turning out. later today ive got to do some work on my bike to get it ready to goto a new years day party
alright, so yeah, new year, new whatever... yawn, boring wooohooooo i did some work last night, well, quite a bit of work tbh, i managed to start the bottom acrylic piece, and also start the front acrylic piece.... which has made me a happeh man! ^ all of the time i was modding i was using my old p3 850mhz laptop to watch sharpe - ended up watching from number 3 to number 7 ^ did a wee bit more polishing - my mum said "i doubt you'll get it any shinier" but i sat there for a few minutes and in the end it was alot shinier ^ the butchered bottom piece - dammit ^ using my trusty jigsaw and a piranha aluminium blade - damn i love these blades, they cut through aluminium like a knife through butter - especially when you use some wd40 on the panel ^ cutty cutty! ^ cutty cutty ^ cutified ^ after a wee bit of sanding ^ checking the rad works in the position - it sure as hell does! ^ checking spacing and what not ^ plenty of space between rad and motherboard ^ 480x480x8mm sheet of ACRyan UV Green acrylic ^ after attacking with the dremel i get a piece the same size as the bottom of the case ^ weeeeee - perfick! ^ after a tiny bit of polishing ^ forgot to take pictures of the cutting, but this is the front acrylic piece all cut out ^ without masking tape ^ slots cut to allow the side panels to fit ^ holes drilled for the bottom panel to fit - works like a charm, and the bolts seem to act as feet thats all for now got to do some english coursework, then play some games, eat some food, play some more games, ermmm... maybe i might mod tomorrow!
hey very nice man.. i got a question how did you polish that last piece up.. what did you use to make it nice and glossy.
i sanded it from 240-1200 grit (with wet and dry sandpaper) and then used aluminium and chrome polish, alternatively you could use autosol or peek polish, which are 2 very good products that i reccomend, you just use it on a rag or if youve got a buffing wheel you can use that.
yes most normal paper will just disintergrate (the glue wont hold it) and then the paper will turn to mush therefore, its best to use proper wet n' dry paper
A small update for the Wavemaster Im still trying to decide a name for the project, and having quite a few problems... i cant think of any names full stop, any help is much appreciated. so basically this update is a just small update to get everything upto date. The main thing im doing at the moment is planning out what i need to order for the watercooling.... Current list Black Ice Pro Triple - Nexxos Pro3 will take care of this - just need to order one! Black Ice Pro Dual - Nexxos Pro2 will take care of this - just need to order one! 2 Reservoirs... - currently looking @ the cape corp AGB2 - they look so damn pimp! 2 Pumps - currently looking @ alphacool ap700 12v pump - seems to be relatively compact with some punch Cpu block - looking @ Cape Corp Gpu block - cant decide until the system specs are 100% certain Chipset block - alphacool neXXos nb block HDD block/s - not sure - tempted to make my own Ram blocks - aquacomputer ramplex's Mosfet block - alphacool block The current specs are (will most likely change a few times) Motherboard: Asus A8N SLi-SE CPU: AMD 3800+ x2 Memory: 1gb TCCD / 2x 1gb G.Skill PC4000 (undecided) Graphics Card: 7800gt/x - x1800xt - x1900xt/x - totally undecided - hence why im not buying a gfx block yet! HDD's: 74gb WD Raptor - for OS only 300gb Maxtor - for storage PSU: Undecided - looking @ tagan 580w two-force so on with the pictures!!! the back of the case imo looked cack, due to the power plug cut out by nyzrox, which i definatly wont be using due to the fact the pumps i plan on using are 12v... so to fix it i came up with a solution.... ^ looks far more pimp than a totally boring back plate... ^ alot more work is needed! ^ the dvd drive that will be in the wavemaster... i started painting it then gave up (i was aiming to have it done before tBG 17, but ended up not... so i just gave up and its been on my desk since.... ^ after "being bothered" i managed to get it looking quite swish ^ checketh thy shineth! ^ note to self.... dont goto trago.... because you'll end up buying half their spraypaint collection... and bondo! thats just half the paint i bought from trago in one visit... i got some seriously odd looks... just for the heck of it.... heres some pic's of my room ^ my area... ^ my 2nd gaming rig area... ^ entertainment area... ^ server area - theres 4 pc's on that desk ^ project server ***! my way of saying bye... a picture of my sidekick
Didnt even look through the log before I subscribed. Looking good frodo, I hope you can maintain that clean soft edged look you seem to be giving to all the corners, looks good. Ill be watching
Finally an update for project wavemaster really tired as of late, and a bit busy with coursework due to deadlines, but i managed to get a big chunk o' work done on server... finishing off the bottom piece!!! woohoooo so basically, i thought everything was going to be sexy, but no, you'll see why im a wee bit pissed at the end of this update.... cutty cutty! cut that hole! lines up nicely hole cleaning rawr w00t look at that! nicely mounted up semms all good mmm nice aint it! looks good to me! seems to have good clearance - think again well as you see, a mobo cannot physically fit **runs and cries alot** dammit currently the best pic ive got of the reflection on my DVD-RW's casing yeah babeh i can paint fo' shiz!!! soooo after all the work to get it to go at the bottom its now going under the case cause i really cant be bothered to get a different rad that MIGHT fix the problem, i know putting it under the case WILL fix the problem! so thats what will happen! so yeah, now ive got the problem of i need some ncie high feet, or even wheels, cause the rad is a good 50mm thick well thats it for now....
What about taking the bottom connectors off of the motherboard to make it fit?? Looking good otherwise.
ok, so ill just take ALL the pci slots off my dfi ultra-d and while im at it ill take off the chipset fan yeah, great plan there! its not the connectors, its the actual PCI slots, and theres no way in hell im taking them off my board ive ordered a bip3 of jopers which may fix the problem as theyre ALOT smaller than the xspc (didnt realise by how much till now)
is there any chance you could just lift the mobo up a bit, either move it up on the tray, or move the entire tray/slide mech up towards the top of the case?
