80mw? Sweet - and thanks for the datasheet link. I've been looking for a display for an embedded board I'm working on and that might be a good fit. Too bad it's 5V though (and not 3.3). Can't win them all I suppose.
Hello coorz, My OLED arrived from China after only 4 days. I suppose I just need a 10k trimpot between GND and +5V with wiper to VBT (pin3) for the contrast setting? CD
Correct, however i omitted the pot and just wired pin 3 to +5v for max contrast, as i found out that the pot is useless as there are no contrast issues with OLED It only looks good at max contrast.
You are correct, we mean brightness. A smaller pot would be better if one must have control, the 10K is too big.
The problem is, the blue and red PLED displays, last 4 to 6 thousand hours only... compared to a 100,000 hours of a LCD...
Coorz/Henry: may seem a bit of an odd question, but as you may remember I have one half of a MX2 mounted to the front of my CD-rom drive, with the USB backpack relocated elsewhere. The problem is that the years of that screen and the thick aluminium blanking plate on the front of the tray has disagreed with the CD-rom drive, so I was wondering if the PLED modules are any lighter? @coorz: I had finally some time to play with this OLED display but I have some issues: I get garbage on the display after some seconds when connected to a PIC microcontroller circuit. This circuit works perfect with any other HD44780-compatible LCD, and also with Noritake LCD-compatible VFD's. The PIC routines do check the busy bit of the LCD, therefore it shouldn't be a timing problem. I made a quick PCB layout to connect the OLED to my parallel port with LCDsmartie. Guess what: I have still that garbage on the OLED (some screens are okay, other screens start okay but get garbled)... What are your experiences with the 'Surestore' OLED module? CD
I've had no issues with the OLED whatsoever on both the one wired to LPT and on the MO. Maybe grounding issues? I did get pointed out to the fact that the backlight should be run at max 3V to prolong it's life, instead of what i did straight to +5 for max brightness.
