Discussion at: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=106096 Hello, my name is Dave, I am a 21 year old college student at the University of Wyoming studying graphic design in the United States and this will be my first project log. My plan for this mod is to take the majority of my current computer equipment now (*see list below), and hand build a new case for it. La Mer is a beautiful Nine Inch Nails track off of the Fragile, and translated from French means “the sea”. Thus the projects current theme for the case now is based around the dark depths of the sea; with primarily black, dark blue, and dark green colors, hopefully window etchings with a (undetermined) sea picture, and some form of sea theme. My plan for this semester is to take various art classes, and with a bit of luck some welding or electronics classes, and use all that knowledge and work to help this project along. This log may be a bit slow at first as I work to gain the money, equipment, and ideas to finish it, but I have very high hopes for this case and think it should turn out very nice. My current computer consists of: *?Case: A Black Lian-Li V1000 (already somewhat modded, very basic though, cable wrapping, interior paint job, blue led fans.) *Mobo: MSI K8N neo4 Platinum Proc: AMD 64bit 3000+ (oc’d to 2.25Ghz ~3500+) *Video: 2 x Chaintech 6600GT’s (SLI, not oc’d due to heat issues) RAM : 4x Corsair XMS (I think running at 3-3-3-7 timings) Power: OCZ ModStream 450V HD: 120GB Western Digital 7200rpm CD/DVD: A loud CD/RW drive, and a slow DVD drive Moniter: Dell 20.1" Widescreen LCD Sound: Logitech 2.1 speaker system (pretty basic) * The parts marked with the * are going to be sold to fund this project’s upgrades, and the Lian-Li case may be sold, or have parts used from it, I am still not decided. I plan on buying these parts from newegg.com: Gigabyte GA-K8N51PVMT 939 Micro ATX Motherboard MSI Geforce 7800GT 256MB 256-bit LG Black Slim DVD Burner Dave
La Mer Discussion Here is the discussion thread for my project log titled La Mer, feel free to ask me any questions, give me advice or criticism. Thanks for stopping by Dave
More... My current plan for the case is to create one much smaller than my current one, with a much better paint job, and hopefully and stunning exterior and interior. Here is what my current case looks like now, this is the front: These are pictures of the side, and interior. These are pictures of my moniter and gaming area Dave
The forum doesn't allow html, instead of using image tags try replacing them with ['IMG]http://yoursitehere.com[/IMG'] (remove the '). Also: You need to link directly to the image, so go to http://www.snapfish.com/viewsharedphoto/p=485171137551446235/l=77206630/otsc=SYE/otsi=SPIC (I used that as an example) and then right click on the image and hit properties (if your in IE) or hit copy image location (if your using firefox).
Hello again, thanks to Knoxxy for telling me how to post pictures! Here is a very basic plan for my new case size: This is a plan for one of the side panels, I would like to get it engraved on there by a professional company, I have seen some really amazing ones done on this site. There is more to come, but for now here is a picture of me wasting my life away playing counter-strike:source. One last picture, the beginning workings of a proper logo: Version #2: Dave
'La Mer' is a wicked piece of music. I'm gonna keep track of this casemod for that very reason By the way for the logo i'd say got version1. Version 2 looks too hard - and 'The Sea' fits v1 better due to the ruggedness and the wavy writing
I prefer Debussy's 'La Mer' myself, but too each his own. On that engraved side panel - have you thought about putting a sealed bowl of water in there, and putting in one of those bubble machine things... Just a thought.
I think he's meaning have a perspex box with water in it as the window, and have an aquarium air pump to pump air bubbles through the water...
