    Need opinions on wood type/colour...

    Planning on buying a new drum kit, and can't decide between Oak and Birch finish.

    (ignore the hardware, just look at the wood);

    Oak

    Birch

    It's not like it's just the colour that I can't decide on - the Birch has a glossy finish whereas the Oak is more satin-like...

    I'm leaning towards Oak at the moment, as it looks a bit 'different'...
    What do you guys think?

    Birch.

    I have had both a Birch and an Oak, and the Birch always looked better!

    I'm a huge oak fan but imho the birch is more attractive on a drum set.

    Depends on the room you are putting it in, birch would go better with other birch/modern furniture and oak with older traditional furniture.

    Although I do prefer birch anyhow!

    Oak if you're going to look at it, Birch if you're going to play it. In my pretty much totally unqualified opinion.

    The birch is almost too modern looking (in an 'Ikea' kinda way), whereas the oak looks too traditional. It's too difficult! May just have to flip a coin...

    The easiest option would be to go for a coloured kit, but I'm wanting to steer clear of them (seeing as my current kit has a red/orange/yellow lenticular design, I'd prefer to go for natural wood).

    What kind of atmosphere will these be used in? Oak is heavier and more formal, and birch is lighter and more modern. I would personally go for birch because its bright and interesting.

    I'd go for birch, it stands out more nicely against the black skins and looks quite refreshing.
