i hear that, my fileserver is 4x250's in raid 5 and it keeps filling up, im waiting for perpendicular desktop drives to be released (shouldn't be long now ) then im going for something in the region of 3 or 4 of the biggest drives i can get (hoping for 1Tb drives soon ) make another thread, i know i've got at least 8gig of ram in the house and hteres probably quite a few sticks of old sdram and stuff lying around
We haven't made it yet You've all used the drive manufacturers' definition of "gigabyte" as 1bn bytes, but in actual fact - as I'm sure you know - it's not. Since the thread starter used 1024GB per TB, we'll have to go the whole way using that system. We actually have: (51,936 * 1,000) / 1,024 = 50,719GB, so we still have 481GB to go
On that basis I'll add my daughters computer which is 200Gb + 200Gb +180Gb (its my old machine) 481 - 580 = 99Gb Over!

I see a lot of people have missed a few posts, so here is the actual number we are at now: KelticFox left us at 2875Gb OVER, which means that with his contribution, we DID pass the mark, no matter how you calculate actual drive space. Pelihirmu added (incorrectly) 305gb. Which equals to 3180gb OVER. Then KelticFox added more systems (though entirely forgot about pushing it over with his last post) which pushed the number up to 3760gb OVER. LAGMonkey added 572gb, so 4332gb OVER. Mad-Axl contributed 190gb, which makes us 4522gb OVER. Then, r4tch3t found 415gb kicking around, so we're at 4937gb OVER. Quack stuck his 1040gb in the mix for 5977gb OVER. ch424 with his 710gb pushed us to 6687gb OVER. Neoki added 558gb (no, I'm not adding up memory cards and such crap) for a whopping 7245gb OVER.
