My first bit-tech topic and starting of with my first casemod. I’m 18 years From Holland and I’ve seen a lot of mods in the past 2 years. I started around a year ago but been very busy so the first few pics are a reshoot of what’s already done. Link to the discussion The starting idea was a nice case that was silent, it became a case to impress (I hope) and use new things in a case. Hardware will be: AMD X2 3800+ DFU lanparty ultra-d 2x512 Corsair 4000 2x nec DL burner 80 gig Maxtor diamondmax9 Hiper 580 psu Peak X700se 512mb (With thnx to www.dnrhardware.nl) Koeling: Eheim 1048 Dangerden Dualheatcore (4x120mm nexus) Dangerden TDX Dangerden NB blokje Frigus Ati block (painted black) Some random Nexus case fans. Let’s do some case pictures. The original case was a Chieftec Dragon Fulltower (black) The front I removed the standard fan grills, fitted an peace of aluminum and created 2 120mm holes for the Dualheatcore The back The back grills are removed as well, the whole back was covered by a new sheet of aluminum and created some custom fan grills, extra power supply and my nickname. Also removed the lower 2 pci slots because I wasn’t planning on using them. A nice shot of the nickname before it was mounted. Top case I added a new PSU support in the case an there will be a 5,25 bay mounted underneath it. I also added some mountings for mirrors but they are not very interesting. Total I added an extra frame underneath the case to place some extra hardware. It raised the total height of the case to 1 meter and that’s without the wheels that I have to add. So enough about the past time for the future. This will be the plan for the finished case: The global idea will be like this: The case will be around 1,05 meters high with a total weight around 40-50 kg, and it will be painted black with blue lighting. The front will be as sleek as possible, the cdrom drives will be hidden behind a door that can raise vertical. This will be done with 2 pneumatic cylinders, the air supply will be placed in the bottom and it will be powered by a tweaked tagan 480watt The door wil be emote controled The planning will be that it will be done at the end of February. P.s. my English isn’t very good so there could be some mistakes
Project Eltinio: update 29th jan I hope to get some feedback on my first casemodding project project eltinio
Welcome to Bit-Tech Your project looks awesome so far. Keep up the attention to detail that you have with your nickname on the back and it will all be good. Just a thought. Do you have a pressure regulator for pneumatic system? I'm no expert on pneumatics but if your pressure is too high the front door will open/close really fast. I wouldn't want to see you lugging a 50kg comp attached to the bloody stumps of your fingers to the Emergency room after accidentally closing the door on your hand . If you had a pressure regulator you could limit the pressure to a level where if you got your hand (or anything else) caught in the door it would just stop. Hope this helps & keep up the good work PS: nice choice of Mobo
The speed of the penumatics is ok i guess around 2 tot 3 sec to open the door. That mobo is nice for now but maybe going for crosfire with an sapphire crosfire board Hmm forgot to say that the door will be remote controled (alsow edited in the project log)
First update. Bolted the bottom frame to the case, just used some nuts and bolts. I picked some alluminium up togetter with an 2mm alluminium plate for the base ( 2mm alluminium gotta love it) i used alot of pop pins to attach the bottom to the frame. I know the bottom is too long but it will hold the front frame and i don't know the size of it yet. And after that i mounted the 4 wheels at the bottom
I'd reccomend putting some wheels that look better unless this thing is gonna end up black...(boooooring) Other than that, looks great, should be a cool mod!!
I love black so it will be painted Mat black. The wheels will probably change becasue the case is instable and i don't linke instable cases. Does anybody have a solution? the wheels can't be placed wider.
again a small update. I now created the sides for the lower frame. The corners and the edge between the frame an the case will threated with bondo. But first need to creat an opening for an door at the rightside and an fangrill with powersuply for the back
againa small update I'm also looking for some wheels like this but in black I used the picture from a project here on bit-tech but i can't remeber who.
k sry about that. Never used anything but broadband internet but what are the pref sizes of the pics? 640x480 ore so? Edit All pics are resized to 640x480 ore less.
do you already have the stuff to control the remote control door? what about: http://xoxide.com/remote-12vdc-relay-kit.html
Been bussy this week with school and building a wc setup in an other case so a small update and some older pics i forgot to post. first the update: I'm planing on doing a mirror with back light, not very new but i like them and i'm doing it different. I taped the logo to the back of the mirror and cutted it out, i will sand blast is zo de bare logo wil be sandblasted and will show the back light. Some old pictures of my side panel First the left side pannel, the one with the window) I left my nickname at the bottom of the windows, that just the rest of the case so nothing like a sticker ore so. The rest doesn't look that special but i've got a 3cm edge, and for those who don't have a chieftec, when you remove the lock i leaves a hole and an edge of 1 cm. So i glued an peace of metal in there an used some bondo to make it nice an clean. The right side panel isn't that special, i bondo'd the little holes because i didn't like them and they had no function. After paint it will look like there never where any holes. I hope to post some front frame progress and the sandblasted mirror and maybe the wheels, might got the lianli wheels.
