Im trying to add 2 drives in a mirrored raid configuration to my system. I've installed windows onto both of them. I did this to format the drives because I couldnt access them from windows on the other drive. Anyway I installed windows on the raid drive using the raid drivers and I can access my main hard drive from inside the raid windows installation but I cant access the raid drive from my main windows installation.

Ive installed the raid driver through windows device manager and it still wont let me access files on the raided drive.

I get this error "D:\ is not accessible. The File or Directory is currupted and unreadable"

I can't really understand what you're saying about installing Windows on the drives...But basically it sounds like the RAID isn't properly built. Rebuild it using an in-Windows utility if you want a software RAID.

Having said that, is there a reason you're not using a hardware RAID?

    it is hardware raid.

I thaught that I coulndt see the raid drive because wasnt formatted, and the only way I could think to format it was to install windows on it with the raid drivers. Did this, booted up fine, I could even access my MAIN hard drive from this windows installation.

Now, from my MAIN windows installation I can see the RAID drive but I cant access it, getting the error I mentioned above.

    Errrmmm........

TBH - RAID for a desktop PC is not worth the hassle!!

have you considered just installing your drives / OS as normal, RAID offers no real performance boost.

Sorry it's not what you want to hear but i'mm afraid it's true...

**UPDATE - sorry u want to protect your data - fair enough - give us your system specs etc...

    Matt :)

I really don't understand what you've done yourself to fix this. What hardware are you using? What RAID controller, what hard drives, SATA or IDE, how and when did you build the RAID, did you build it into a proper RAID1?

You've left a lot of things unanswered for wanting help so bad.
